Total US sales for PS4 and Xbox One

2e4ydlu.png

Only 385,000 between them so far. It will be interesting to see the results during the traditionally slower summer months, especially as PS4 is no longer supply constrained.

I'm most intrigued as to what MS do next. Despite a few people saying PS4 doesn't have much coming out MLB,The Last of Us: Remastered and Driveclub will push consoles. Watch_Dogs next month will be a big one for the PS4 too. So what do you do as MS? You've got no big hitters coming till Q3 I'd say, do they lower the price but I'd imagine most gamers would say it would be need to be lower than the PS4 as it's the weaker console. Do they give 1 year free of XBL Gold? For me it has to be get rid of Kinect, I along with plenty of other gamers won't touch it as Kinect is a waste of space and I'd quite honestly be embarrassed to speak to my TV. Plus I have read Aussie's having to mimic an American accent to get it work, I mean that is just not good. I know it's embedded into the ecosystem of the console but they have to give an option without Kinect as it's the biggest impediment to a sale for me.

Still think Xb1 can turn it around, just need some more games to come out quickly. At my work there are already the younger staff who got a PS4 at launch now getting an Xb1 with Titanfall and loving it. I think with Titanfall selling over 1milion sold on Xb1 that word of mouth will spread and I expect good sales next month too.

Im Aussie and u could say I have a deeps aussie country accent and Kinect works 90% of the time. It did feel weird talking to the Xb1 at 1st but now its the norm and even my wife is getting into it now.
If you go in with a negative attitude you are going to get a negative experience.

No chance Driveclub pushes consoles. The Last of Us will be niche. Most have already played it on the PS3. It definitely won't move consoles. I don't think MLB would push consoles either. It's not like it's Madden. Watch Dogs will be the PS4's big game until fall. It will be on the Xbox One also but I think Sony has the media rights to it, meaning, they're the only ones that can have their logo after it and that will be good for Sony.

Kinect doesn't have to be used. It's been an option since after E3.

I have to say
Most of the initial fireworks were last night, in an earlier version of the thread, now locked.

Must say, if the future holds a no gif policy, will be a little un fun. Love seeing a few of those :)

I haven't seen the usuals post at all though when Xbox 360 was typically in the lead. Well, It's whatever, I am pretty sure almost every single person including myself was surprised at the out come.

Any predictions for April, let's get them in. Month is more than half way up, unless something big happens. I'll go with

Wii U <50k
X1 170K
PS4 290K

I realy feel we can't be too sure of this at all, as Feb. and supply really messed with predictions imo

LOU has the best shot and it's in a dry spell, I think it will have a decent push. I don't agree that "most" already played it that wanted to. I haven't played it, and a few other board members haven't played it yet as well. I think including Anderson.

Now, I do already have a PS4 so it's kind of a wash in some ways I guess. Driveclub, it may not have the overall appeal to push it, depends if it ends up really fun to play or not and if sony actually markets it. There isn't really a worth while racing game on ps4 hardly at all. And, a lot of people were unhappy with Forza. I think, now is a great time to release the flood gates on the title and hopefully a release date in May... I wouldn't want or expect to release it in the summer, but who knows.

yeah, those dreamcast numbers actually look really good, higher than ps4/x1? ha

Must be a price issue, dreamcast was only like 200. But couldn't hit those holiday numbers I think.

The Last of Us / MLB The Show / Driveclub / Amazing Spiderman 2 may not be system sellers, but it seems to be more than what is coming out exclusively for Xbox One the next several months (of course I'm talking about new gen consoles).

Sony has more to offer in the near future but none of those games are system sellers. It doesn't matter though since Sony doesn't need much help at the moment.

Driveclub might not be a mega hit but I think it will move a few consoles in Europe for people wanting a next gen racer, it certainly has the visuals to match it. The Last Of Us will sell well because not everyone bought it and there will be 360 owners who want to play it but didn't have a PS3 but do have a PS4. MLB Idk how popular Baseball is in the US. Either way all these games will help Sony keep the momentum up.

I know Kinect doesn't have to be used but it's much harder to use without kinect is what I have read.

But Microsoft is dooooomed.

And btw, I'm loving the Wii U right now. Sales are important but not to me personally.

I don't know about that. I haven't played it yet and I own a PS3. I KNEW (once I saw the other re-releases this gen) that they would end up doing that with TLOU. Also, when you have someone like FrankieOnPC (and other moderately popular gaming YT channels) saying things like "I'm definitely going to buy remastered because it was just that good" it's quite possible it'll move some consoles.

Because after all, at least it's actually exclusive unlike some "exclusive" games that are "console exclusive" but not really.

P.S., you forgot the "now including less fun" in the thread title.

Neither console needs help at all.. both are selling extremely well and have a good load of games coming in the next months

What games are coming out the next few months for Xbox One that won't be on PS4? I'm genuinely curious.

When you have people posting gifs then going, "OMG look at the butthurt," when it's intentionally done to antagonize, it's pretty stupid and then people take it personal and it starts a stupid cycle of nonsense we've seen too many times.

I agree. Seems a lot on here do though.

I just got nailed by that last gen. Hardly any so heralded "exclusives" were actually good games. Most were just graphical e-peen bragging points.

I got most of my enjoyment, probably 95% or better, out of 3rd party stuff.

I just don't care if Sony has Infamous or Killzone. I wouldn't care if I owned the PS4 right now instead of the X1 about Titanfall... I just don't put that sort of effort into focusing on exclusivity.. I just have fun with the games that are out.

Hence, I also hate console war resolution pissing matches, frame rate bitching, etc... all of it is pointless.

Is that to say the Wii U is the next Dreamcast?

Yeah, poor Wii U is kind of limping along. Maybe MK8 will give it a boost.

If I remember right, Sega had financial problems that meant they needed to pull out of the console race all together, when the Dreamcast ran into trouble. That won't happen to Nintendo. They're in a much stronger position than Sega was. They'll recover. My hope is that they issue a new model without the tablet controller. That and a few HD Zelda remakes would probably get me on board.

Only fools write Nintendo off. The Dreamcast comparison was startling, I knew it was performing poorly but didn't realise it was doing that bad. Mariokart and Smash Bros. will be big, no doubt about that, but it looks like Wii U is going to be like the Gamecube - cool little machine with some great games but a very small audience. The tablet will stay with the console for the rest of its life now, even though it hasn't been brilliantly used.

I expect Nintendo will want to fast track their next offering - whether that's the 'Quality of Life' device or something else - to market quicker than previously planned

Yes, that includes me. I think Plainview is right that it won't move a lot of consoles all by itself. I mean, it's a remake. However, it will help to keep the positive perceptions, news stories, and word of mouth going, which imo is just as important, especially during the early months of a console's life and a slow summer.

I think TLOU is the type of game, if you haven't bought it on PS3, you may get it on PS4. However, few will go out to get a PS4 to play TLOU.

Anyway, I do not see any system seller for either system for a while. Also TF, at 1 million sold, presumely another 500K elsewhere isn't a big system seller as some people have thought.

Wow can't believe people get upset over gifs, step away from the keyboard if you are that uptight people!
