I think TLOU is the type of game, if you haven't bought it on PS3, you may get it on PS4. However, few will go out to get a PS4 to play TLOU.

Anyway, I do not see any system seller for either system for a while. Also TF, at 1 million sold, presumely another 500K elsewhere isn't a big system seller as some people have thought.

Considering how many Xbox Ones are out there, the attach rate is very high though. 1 million copies of the game to 2.5 million consoles sold in the US and is really good. It didn't really move extra hardware in March as expected, especially when the weekly rate of sales was broken down and compared to February.

The Last of Us is a amazing game. I will re-buy it. But its not going to cause some sort of rush on PS4. People who didnt play it will buy it, it will do well. But its not going to have people flocking to stores.

Am I the only one who sees the math in all this? The sales are directly proportional to the price difference.

Wow, the last gen consoles are still chugging along. I know most of my time is still spent on 360, because of the free an almost free games that are always available now that Free with Gold is a forever thing. Can't say that I have any plans to buy any games ever this gen when I can just wait and play them for free. Much like I use Netflix now.

P.S, no Game of Thrones spoilers please.

uptight or not, usually those gifs are only there to garner a response and add nothing to discussion.
I always felt like they were just there to offer comic relief to tense conversations.

Is that to say the Wii U is the next Dreamcast?

The Wii U is doing worse than the Dreamcast at a time in which console gaming has become far more popular.

Anyway, thought I would have a bit of fun and make predictions about overall console sales for this gen when it ends (haha). I'm going to guess PS4: 55% of current gen console sales; Xbox One: 35% of current gen consoles sales & Wii U: 10% of current gen console sales.

270 million consoles were sold last gen. Using that number with my prediction would equal...

PS4: 149 million
Xbox One: 95 million
Wii U: 27 million

...when this gen is over. Anything can happen though as we move along. Just my prediction as of right now. And man, that may have been too much for the Wii U (haha).

sometimes... but when you put them into an OP and in that context comes off as arrogant bragging, that isn't really necessary... then it hits the gray area of trolling/baiting or jokes.

On those instances, prob just best to leave them out.

I was waiting for that.... since TF sold more than 1 Million... only because it's on PC as well... it isn't
exclusive.

It's on PC AND X360. I know MS fans love to live in this dream world where if a game isn't on one specific platform that makes it "exclusive" but by the very definition of the word that's not the case. It's on not one, but two other platforms. It's not exclusive because it's on two other platforms and it's not "console exclusive" because it's on another console.

It truly baffles me that people either don't seem to understand that (not saying you specifically) or just want to completely ignore those facts to help bolster their console of choice. It does them and MS no good to gloss over these facts or ignore them completely.

The game wasn't exclusive, therefore it did not push the consoles MS wishes it would have. Next time they have a big "exclusive" perhaps they'll have a foresight to not have it release on two competing platforms.

and then people take it personal and it starts a stupid cycle of nonsense we've seen too many times.

Well those people are stupid emo children. I've been replied to with gifs many times and if I had the time I'd take a photo of how not in a bunch my panties are.

I understand the reasoning but on the other had sometimes you just need to tell those getting all weepy about it to STFU, grow a pair and move on, ya know?

Good numbers for both consoles. I think Plainview is correct nothing in the announced PS4 lineup are system sellers. In fact nothing they have released so far have been that compelling in terms of moving consoles. They are doing so well because of the price and previous console cycle going on so long. I think the only company that can look at these numbers and be worried is Nintendo concerning the Wii U. I do wonder if the company has already turned the page on that console.

The big thing I can see in the future is Microsoft expanding Xbox Live beyond the console into mobile in a big way in a few years. I could see them make a big push to expand Xbox Live to IOS, Android, and Windows platforms

Of course the Vita is long since past dead.

No chance Driveclub pushes consoles. The Last of Us will be niche. Most have already played it on the PS3. It definitely won't move consoles. I don't think MLB would push consoles either. It's not like it's Madden. Watch Dogs will be the PS4's big game until fall. It will be on the Xbox One also but I think Sony has the media rights to it, meaning, they're the only ones that can have their logo after it and that will be good for Sony.

Kinect doesn't have to be used. It's been an option since after E3.
Racers made by Sony do move consoles, The Last Of Us could sell decent as well being a game drought and much of PS4 fan owners were 360 gamers who missed it and MLB is a critically acclaimed franchise that's releasing at the perfect time.

I think DriveClub would have to be pretty special. Racers on PS don't move consoles, you mean to say Gran Turismo moves consoles... :)

End of the gen it will be a almost exact 50/50 split like it was with the PS3/360.

[quote"Dno69, post: 161335, member: 179"]But Microsoft is dooooomed.

And btw, I'm loving the Wii U right now. Sales are important but not to me personally.[/quote]
Wii U Is Doomed.
A $199 price and some huge game announcements are its only chance.

No, cause ps3 sold better than 360 at a higher price.

The question is what can MS do now since TF has come and gone? March was supposed to be their top sales month of the year with all the hype and promoting MS had been doing with the title. What's left to try and boost sales a bit more? Unless they're happy with the way things are now. PS4 didn't have any promotions on at all, Canada had a $50 price hike yet PS4 still outsold the X1. To add salt to the wounds, there is nothing coming out in the spring/summer to entice potential consumers to get a X1. Are they going to let TF try and carry them into the Fall? I guess Watch Dogs could help but it's like on every other platform as well so not sure how much this would actually make an impact.

PS4 has spread out their titles over spring/summer with TLoU Remastered, MLB The show 14, Drive Club (hopefully summer), Watch Dogs exclusive promotions/gameplay.

Because of this, I think PS4 will be able to sustain its momentum well into the Fall when the Order: 1886 drops, Destiny, and hopefully an Uncharted release date.

Good to see both selling well. I'm not worried about X1 selling less, I think most of us predicted that.

Just because the Xbox One is trailing the PS4, doesn't make it a bad console. If, for some reason, the Xbox One was leading the PS4 the way the consoles are built right now, no one would be worrying because they still believe the PS4 is a great machine.

One of these consoles has to be in second place. The likelihood of them being tied in sales is literally zero. I think the only reason people are worrying about Xbox One because of the initial backlash it got. But why worry? Even with the bad press, the console is doing very, very well. As a matter of fact, for all the praise the PS4 is getting, the gap between the consoles should be larger.

I am not trying to defend one console over the other but I think the whole sales thing needs to be let go a bit. Who buys a console and hopes that other people did too? I buy a console to enjoy games. And both consoles right now have satisfied my needs as a gamer thus far.

This is suppose to be fun and exciting.

Out of all the data and comparisons in that huge Neogaf NPD thread, these numbers posted by Aquamarine were the most surprising .
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=108608535&postcount=4268

Dreamcast, March 2000:
60K

Dreamcast, March 2001:
123K

Wii U, March 2013:
68K

Wii U, March 2014:
70K

Dreamcast, January - March 2000:
198K

Dreamcast, January - March 2001:
398K

Wii U, January - March 2013:
191K

Wii U, January - March 2014:
201K

Dreamcast LTD (March 2001):
3.16 million

Wii U LTD (March 2014):
2.30 million

People are quick to forget the DC actually set records.

So do we know the Titanfall XBox One/PC%?

Remember seeing quite a few people saying the PC version would dominate sales.

We don't know sony sold through either. They were way off with ps3 with their own sold through numbers.

Currently it's 1.4:1 or about 3:2 which is not bad at all while selling at only 13 countries vs 50+.

if that's the case thenthis is your first generation that you bought early on, as xbox has moreand better games than 360had when it was released. You pick Fifa and Forza and expect to be blown awaywith fun LOL.

You don't get Titanfall for x1 and instead wait a month to get a worse version for x360? Only a pirate would do that if they owned both consoles as the game costs same.

We do. It's 7 million sold through as of April 6, 2014. Since the launch, Sony has been releasing sold-through numbers on a consistent basis.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/04/16/ps4-hits-7-million-globally/

MS only released 5 million sold/shipped to retailers (sold-in) but no sold through to consumers numbers. This leads me to think that it may not have been as optimal as they wanted leaving us somewhere in the 4-4.5 million ball park, I'd assume.

So wait Titanfall didn't move 1million on Xbox One?

They sold 1 million copies but didn't move 1 million X1's and last I read, I think X1 version accounted for 94% of total sales and PC 6% since NPD only counts retail and not digital sales.

If you look at how Microsoft as company, ie not the Xbox division, releases numbers they talk about the shipped numbers not sold through to customers. So there is nothing suspicious about it just company policy. And lets not forget this sold to customer thing is new for Sony, and suspect if they were not doing as well we would be getting the same shipped numbers Microsoft is using.

I am pretty confident one of the reason we do not get as detailed of numbers from NPD as we used to is because Sony started complaining last generation.

Sony has more to offer in the near future but none of those games are system sellers. It doesn't matter though since Sony doesn't need much help at the moment.

Does sony even have big system sellers? It seems most of their games do not do gears of wars and halo numbers but they all sell really well to make a good library. You don't hear many people say I got a Sony system for one or two games but for the library overall they got it.

Well, they announced 3 million sold through by the end of 2013 and 3.9 million shipped to retailers. Then no more sold through numbers from beginning of 2014 until now and still, no sold through numbers. If they were doing as well as they had hoped, you'd bet they would announce those sold through to consumers numbers. If you were MS and from Jan 2014 until April 2014, you only sold about 1-1.5 million to consumers, I don't think you'd want to announce that either.
