The game that initially excited me the most and was the final tipping point for me to buy an Xbox was Splinter Cell. Just the sheer number of possible moves, abilities, and interactions was pretty astounding at the time, as were the graphics and animations. The style of stealth gameplay was fresh and exciting, and it all looked amazing. The first SC is a personal classic. I know it ended up on PS2 eventually, but it was exclusive to Xbox for awhile.I remember Gun Valkyrie being listed for the Dreamcast and how excited i got seeing the first pictures. Once the DC was dead and seeing what Sega was bringing to the Xbox there was no question what game system would be my next lol.
The Xbox ended-up much like the 360 did for me; mainly the go-to console for multi-platform titles, but with some excellent exclusive titles sprinkled on top as a bonus (like Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Far Cry: Instincts, Chronicles of Riddick, Star Wars: KOTOR, Otogi, Jade Empire, and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath). Plus, I never owned a really powerful gaming PC, so the Xbox was also great to have for some of those PC ports like Morrowind, Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Deus Ex 2, and Thief 3. The Xbox is a respectable console and very much worth owning even for just these reasons alone.I know the Xbox got stereo typed for being the Halo or Burnout machine but it offered so much more, sadly most of these games sold poorly or just never received the hype they deserved.
