The Xbox One will see a permanent price drop by May
The holidays were amazing for Microsoft. While the December NPD's are not out as of this writing, it looks like the Xbox One sold over two million units for November and December. Look for January to be better than the standard 150,000-175,000 the rest of 2014 was for the Xbox One and February to be a little worse. Microsoft will realize to keep pace with Sony they have to be permanently below the PS4 and they need to do it before the PS4 has it's own drop.

Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break will be pushed to 2016
These two hotly anticipated games are on most people's radars. We've only seen very few snippets of both games thus far. While E3 will be the big reveal for both of these titles I just think that Naughty Dog and Remedy will need a little more polish to make sure the games are the best on either console. Quantum Break may eek into December but my gut tells me it won't.

The Division will win the most GOTY's in 2015
With all of the flack that Ubisoft has received the past year, ALL of it justified, I see The Division being that game that make many forget their multiple missteps. The Division has been in production for a while already, and it's been delayed, even though no release date was officially give, I believe, and the fine tuning and bug detection should have had enough time. It doesn't carry the over the top hype that Destiny had and had no chance to live up to. That will work in The Division's favor as it wouldn't have to live up to anything. With seamless merging of a mission with online play, I think Ubisoft has an absolute winner on it's hands.

Nintendo will hint at their next console by holiday 2015
The Wii U has a stellar lineup with more stellar games in the pipeline. Even with that it's dead in the water. It won't surpass the Xbox One in sales and nobody is touching the PlayStation 4. The Wii U is four million behind the Xbox One with a year head start. It's not catching it. The Wii U will be number three. No matter how amazing the Wii U's first party titles are, there's no innovation that many wanted like the Wii had and the video game industry is driven by multiplatform titles which the Wii U either doesn't get or have the worst version. The Wii U is going to be all but buried by the end of 2015 and Nintendo will work feverishly to get their next console out. Look for a new Nintendo console in November 2017.

People will love No Man's Sky and not know why
No Man's Sky will be the darling of 2015. People will love it. I'm sure people will hate it to because so many people will love it. With all that love, people won't be able to put into words why they love it. The game is very basic. Fly around, collect stuff, trade stuff, build a better ship so you can collect more stuff. It will be boring on the surface, but, people will find themselves playing it for hours on end. People will get a sense of enjoyment from doing very little and we won't know why. No Man's Sky will be the independent game everyone talks about when discussing the accomplishments an independent studio make.

Pretty good. Not sure about Nintendo, and I think the name of that last one is supposed to be Destiny...

Nice write up, I imagine Nintendo wont talk about their next console until 2016/2017 at the earliest. Far too many games being released in 2015 for them to go public about their next box, cube etc :)

I will be very unhappy if Quantum Break is pushed to next year :(

Half life 3 announced, & will be exlusive to Steam Machines.

As long as QB gets delayed, I have no problem with The Division taking tons of GOTY nods. Another I'm really looking forward to and hope its a GOTY contender.

What's today's date?! Why are we talking about what games we're OK with getting GotY awards when no one has played any relevant games of 2015?

I'm looking forward to Evolve more than any other game this year but it could obviously be a dud.

Because more likely than not if it gets numerous GOTY nods it'll be a great game, which I want it to be. I never said I wanted it to be THE GOTY :)

No way Quantum Break gets pushed to 2016.

My rather big & bold predictions for 2015.

1.) VR is going to be massive and fundamentally change the way we view and make games.

2.) Nintendo's next console will be a powerhouse and more traditional. Will target core gamers from the start.

3.) MS will WOW us with something done in the cloud. Minds will be blown.

4.) Fallout 4 will be announced.

5.) Sony Will finally re-announce and show off The Last Guardian.

I think I'm leaning to the other side of nearly all those predictions, except maybe #2.

Do you use the same brain to write post's (that ' doesn't feel right!) like this and to make important life decisions?

Uh oh, improper use of an apostrophe. You are hereby banned for 24 hours.

edit: I couldn't figure out how to ban someone for 24 hours, so I had to settle for a warning. Our system only seems to let you ban people for 3 days, 1 week, or longer.

1 (Xbox price drop) - I doubt it. Seems like they have their strategy mapped out. I'm sure they know sales will fall off, so I don't think that will cause them to reverse course. I wouldn't expect a permanent price drop until next holiday. I guess we'll see, though.

2 (delays) - I expect QB to be delayed, given Remedy's history. I expect UC4 to make its target, because of its importance to the holiday and ND's level of experience.

3 (Division) - I doubt it. Has a Clancy game ever won a ton of GOTYs? Maybe it will win some MP awards.

4 (Nintendo console) - I think they've already hinted at it, in the sense of confirming that they're into R & D on it. Unless you mean give some specifics. I'm not sure they're in the desperate straits you make it sound like. They've got loads of cash. They always seem to be able to turn a profit with their consoles. Personally I'd love to see a new Nintendo console like the one you describe, though, and soon.

5 (NMS) - agree that a lot of people will love it. I don't think it'll be too much of a mystery why, though. If you've ever wished to fly around the galaxy and explore different worlds, you'll get it.

Yeah, this is the one I disagree with the most. This game has huge hit written all over it.

Isn't Star Citizen more appealing in this regards.

Guess not. Or at least, I don't hear people talking much about Star Citizen. I don't know a lot about the game, since it's on PC, but a few moments on google tells me it's a space/combat sim, with lots of emphasis on economy/trading, highly detailed ships, a strong multiplayer component, and earning "citizenship." Seems like a game for people who really like to build, tweak, trade with, and shoot at other players. Sounds similar to a lot of space sims that have come before.

Andy! I don't think you realize we entered into a symbiotic relationship here...

You catch an errant misuse of an apostrophe, and the forum catches a breather from a sometimes overbearing authority figure. However, this doesn't work if you don't explain to me why my apostrophe was an error in the first place!

I want you to know if this works, I will have no one but you and UnionVGF to thank for the next 60 (crossing my fingers) years of my life.

I accept the three day ban! Now uphold your end of the bargain!

I think the X1 price drop is a safe prediction with E3 around that timeframe. It obviously depends on sales in between now and then.

Oh, ok, I didn't realize that was part of the bargain. All right then. I hope the forum doesn't get too bored with the grammar lessons.

You said, "Do you use that same brain to write post's." You used an apostrophe to make a plural. You don't need the apostrophe there. Generally speaking, to make a plural, you just add an "s" or an "es" to the word. There are some exceptions, but that's the usual rule. So, it's "posts," not "post's."

Because we can?

Great write up Plainview you no doubt have to pretty close with that I think. Though UC4 might be timely....but the last us of got delayed, so you never know.

My predictions:

1. Performance and sales gap will continue to close
2. MS will have a megaton exclusive announcement regarding a third party IP
3. All three consoles will get official price cuts
4. Sony will release their VR
5. Xbox Live will see some changes to it's silver and gold plans
