The Wrestling Topic

This was the first Wrestlemania I've watched live in many years and it was awful, so many of the performers seemed tired and off of their game. AJ Styles and Jericho was botch after botch, the HIAC match just seemed rushed and Taker looked like a crippled old man who couldn't even stand up straight before the match started, the ladder match had a few nice spots but it didn't really have any of the drama or the impact of the old ladder matches from the attitude era. Lesnar vs Ambrose was boring as hell, I'm a fan of Brocks but he's worse on the microphone than Reigns and lately only has like 2 moves but people love him and boo Roman which makes no sense. Most of the matches just had no real flow, they seemed so stop and go like everyone was unsure of what they were doing, that goes for all of the matches pretty much except for the main event which was one of the better matches but still wasn't anything spectacular. There were a couple of fun little moments but overall it really wasn't a good show.

Shane jumping off the cell was the only memorable moment. Boreman Drains wins the championship, you could have bet a million dollars on that without breaking a sweat. What happened to the street part of the street fight between Brock and Dean? I was expecting Ambrose to get an F5 through a window or something. Would have been a good PPV if it wasn't WrestleMania, but this is supposed to be the best show of the year and it was far from it.

Yeah that street fight was a total waste of time, they just needed something for Brock to do I guess. I also don't get why people are so high on Ambrose, he's got an annoying voice, half of his crap on the mic sucks and a lot of his offense looks soft and low impact. As far as Shane jumping from the cell, yeah that was cool but I think it was totally expected so that kinda took some of the value away from it IMO.

#12large is trending at the moment for the memory of passed indy wrestler, Larry Sweeney. Dude was an awesome talent and part of that special 2000s indy generation that helped immensely to prop up the indy scene after the fallout from WCW and ECW closing. His most memorable and probably most accessible stuff is from his time in Chikara and ROH. Guy brought an old school feel to a generation of guys looking to pave their own way.

As sad as it is that Balls Mahoney died, I'm not surprised at all. Dude had a huge drug history that continued through out his life. Still though, he was the Chair Swinging Freak and I loved his ugly mug. RIP Balls.

Bye bye ....

I guess surviving that heart attack allowed Lawler to live long enough to do something really stupid

PS it is.

I wonder if Lawler's suspension will have any effect on his commentary in WWE 2K17? I know most of the lines are recycled from year to year, but they usually add some new lines with each new release.

Not to sound mean but I am glad they finally gave Dean Ambrose the belt just to show people how underwhelming his reign will be, the guy is so over hyped by the internet wrestling community it's insane. They hate on Reigns every chance they get but they don't say a word about how awful and fake 90% of Ambrose moves look, hell the only really good looking move he has is that rebound clothesline. I will admit I used to like his original version of dirty deeds but the underhook DDT sucks.

The commentary is always broken, I wouldn't be shocked if the 911 call from his fiancée made it in somehow :p

I like him but yeah a lot of what he does looks fake/weak. But it's the way the fans are now. They can't insist on Bryan any more so they pick Ambrose.

I agree with you 99%--the rebound clothesline is just so overused in his matches now. I'm talking like they'll set up this spot multiple times in a single match; it's just unreal (it has become even more repetitive than Randy Orton's elevated DDT, IMO).

For anyone with the WWE Network, I'd highly recommend checking out the Crusierweight Classic on there. Quality stuff thus far!

He stopped using the first version because of EC3 in TNA I think, whose been using the move longer. That said, I do like the fact that a DDT is a finisher again. It's been a long time coming as far as I'm concerned.

Overall, I agree about Ambrose. He's never excited me, even when he was on the indies. Good for him though on achieving all of his success though. It seems like WWE is behind him because he has that "CM Punk" type of aura about him.
