Ok, we've said everything we needed to say about what the PS4 Pro isn't and what it can't do. This thread is about the system and, going forward, discussions will not be about rehashing what we did for countless pages in the other thread. Keep fanboy nonsense out of it. This goes for people who don't like the Pro and those that DO like the Pro. Be intellectually honest.

what it will do is improve every single PS4 game. worth the asking price for that alone.

Will it? I thought they had to be patched. I recall seeing a thread on gaf (or at least mentions in a thread) that they weren't patching Drive Club for better performance which is weird because there will be a PSVR mode.

strait out the box it will improve the games (uprez to 4k for example, wired controller for zero input lag), but those games can be further enhanced with a patch.

We can probably say the same about share play when it first launched -- not all games supported it. But as time went on, developers were encouraged to adopt it. Pro will enhance any previous game that was originally running on the earlier systems. I'm not sure what has occurred with Drive Club but Sony will be encouraging developers to enhance any Pro release to the original version, whether that be VR or solely Pro based. Actually, it was stated that developers are not allowed to release games on the Pro if it isn't enhanced over the vanilla version.

Sure, I believe that about games from here out. Older games will benefit from upscaling- provided it has a good upscaler (it should), but that's not really the same as patching in improvements.

HDR is the same, though based on the New PS4 update, I am seeing an improvement in IQ when in that mode even though I'm hearing it would have to be patched in. I don't know what to think there unless just enabling the mode puts my TV in that state and it is somehow providing a better color range.

It could/should but I dunno if these companies will improve EVERY PS4 game.
But many good current games and all upcoming games will have a Pro mode and 4K upscaling for those that don't plus the low price is intriguing IMO.

I'd just go to GameSpot and do it for $150 and keep the 5 games. I mean, what are you really losing on the trade-in value: $50? But that's just me. The fact that the unit is priced at $400 has really placed it in mass market, buying range. I can only imagine the deals when the holidays roll around.

I think the system is going to do rather well when it hits the shelves.

I wouldn't see why it wouldn't do well, especially with first time buyers being only $100 more than the Slim and leagues better.

In fact, Digital Foundry notes that Rise of the Tomb Raider wasn't able to hit a consistent native 1080p 60FPS on the PS4 Pro due to CPU bottlenecks. This sets a disappointing precedent for other PS4 Pro upgrades, hinting we may not finally get native 1080p 60FPS in games after all.

ouch!=

We have already saw games mentioned as we well as hitting above this, so I don't see where this "may not get native 1080p 60fps" talk is coming from.

Funny how the negative comes up quite frequently before the positive. LoL!

I don't have my volume up, so do thay say it will be 60? Because the footage shows 30.

But the resolution is TWICE as much and that's with the game not even finished and launching in January. I doubt games will stop there with the hardware out there a little longer.

Im pretty sure they said that horizon was a 1080p game. I could be wrong, though.

So not even 60fps? I hope they jacked up the effects!

Its not even staying locked at 30 but its early days anyway. Can anyone confirm its native resolution? is it 1080p or 1440 or something custom?

Even he doesn't know the native resolution, think he assumed its 2 x 1080p.

Yeah....you're right. He never stated this at 1:33. :meh: :really:

I guess i probably should have swept that part under a rug, huh? Where it rains, it must pour, right? ....Or at least on a select end.

guys, quit worrying about what the Pro can do with games. all you need to know is that it will do those games better than any other console can
