Path of Exile coming to Xbox One

Yeah.

My disslike for F2P games is well known round here, and I have never liked these top down action RPGs(last played was Bastion) and yet for somereason I am enjoying the crap out of PoE. I have no idea why either, it isn't like it is innovative or anything.

It really is one of those games that is more than the sum of its parts. WindowsCentral did a good piece on it.

Hmmm.. I just got my second character to the Sarn camp and can already do the Ascendency even though I only done 2 ascendency trials.

Ascendency is account wide and not character specific. I noticed that when I did the first trial on my second character and noticed it was already marked as complete.

menace-uk- so after beating the Act 4 boss last night a new path opens up from the Act 4 town and it brings you to the start of Act 5. :meh:

I thought it was the end of the game. But nope. Reckon it's time to take on the Labyrinth tonight.

I'm not doing jack till I get my character sorted out. Those couple of areas we ended with last night were not fun.

Yeah that final boss was the hardest one yet by far. I need another two or three points to get all those resistance passives unlocked. After that I'm not sure where I'll take the character.

I have formulated a plan to get fiire, light'g, cold resistasnce to 70%+just from gear. I got light'g to 71% and know ffor sure I can get fire there with body armor. Not sure I can do cold with just gauntlets & boots, but we shall see.

I like this game but the menus/co-op system are really clunky compared to Diablo 3 on XB1. Just saying....

The co op system is probably the best thing ever introduced in a game of this type. It's literally seemless.

The menus are rough. It's very mich a PC port with minimum optimisation. Hopefully that will improve if the game is successful on Xbox. And there is no reason to think it won't be.

Trying to play on PC this weekend has been a nightmare. Constant disconnects in the middle of playing. GGG needs to invest in either more or better quality servers now that the game is becoming more popular.

Its not worth the frustration until they get it worked out. Especially because you lose so much xp at higher levels when you die.

Literally been the polar opposite for me. I've put 150 hours into the beta already (silly, i know) and I've only disconnected once in all that time.

Watch out for this -

Resistance penalties
A penalty to all resistances is applied to player characters depending on their progression in the story.

  • Completion of Act 5: -30% to all resistances
  • Completion of Act 10: -30% to all resistances (-60% total)

I didn't know about this and i just finished Act 5 with my Inquisitor. I now have -7% resistance to Chaos damage. As if it wasn't bad enough already. Luckily enough I had loads in Fire, Cold and Lighting so I'm still out there but goddamn that negative chaos resistance one.

Yeah already kjnew this. I don'y mind, but doing it for chaos aswell is just r******d.

I can't beat kitva cause I have no chaos resistance. Specing into life and evasion is pointless with ygye ranger. Using debuffs is pointless as the effect is negligable on the the enemies you most need to debuff. Rare loot drops are far too infrequent now.

And that is only on normal.

Was really enjoying the game, but the further I progress the more I think this game is just stupid

We are on different servers and have a smaller player pool though.

Remember it's a beta. You're character class might be bugged. I don't use evasion at all. I beat Kivita but it was a struggle. Also I disagree that the resistance doesn't work. It does work. My problem is my health pool is still too low at 1.2k. I'm working on that now.

I can help you beat Kitva later on if you're around. The story doesn't just repeat either. You have new enemies to go after and some of the NPCs are missing and you need to find them.

I have seen games that had pc menu and change into console settings.

I think warframe did that.

It isn't bugged.

I did some testing and it seems anythng below estimated 50% evade chance is pointless. but even at 50% it doesn't work like you would think.

At 44% evade I stood and let an enemy hit me, he hit me 21 times before he missed. Did it 3 more times with very similar results.

So, I went vendor shopping and found an Aura called grace, which, at its current level, grants aroundd 900 evasion.

Did the test again at 56% evade and got hit 9 times before missing.

So, still s***, I went looking for thing to help. I found a notable in the passive tree that grants 30% dodge. I didn't. test it but it seems better now, it seems I get hit 2 or 3 times then they start missing. Problem is the notable reduces spell dodging by 30%, so spells hit me nigh on everytime...but there is another notable 3 points away that give 30% spell dodge.

Honestly, this game is a mathmatician's wet dream. Forget string theory and time travel, the real mystery is PoE's stat system.

My brother has put in over 1000 hours with the game and he has told me multiple times to avoid evasion builds.

Damn brother. That's some detailed investigation. lol
I'd give you a job on my team any day!

I'm curious about starting an evasion based character. Both ones I'm running are armour based.

The only way I can see to turn a Ranger into something else is via the notable Iron Reflex, which converts Dexterity into armor. It would take me a good 7-9 upgrade points to get there, which will take awhile.

If the economy system wasn't so ridiculous then I could have gone after Orbs of Regret, but as it is I would need over 320K portal scrolls to get the required 50 Orbs. I have 120 scrolls right now:sad:

Shouldn't be this hard to respec in a game like this.

That is pretty much all I have done the past 3 days, test. But I seem to be going in the right direction now. If ican find decent boots and gauntlets then I should be at about 60% evade, which I think will be noticeable.

Good stuff.

I haven't been on since I found out that I lost 30% resistance by moving to Act 6. I played the very first optional Act 6 mission to clear the beach and the boss at the end one shot me with his chaos attack. Having -7% is awful. It also means I can't remove any armour with chaos resistance on it or that situation will be get worse. I might look into seeing if I can forge chaos resistance.

Side note, probably won't be home til Thursday this week.

Most people dont seem. to run with much chaos resistence. I would assume you get one shotted cause your life pool is too small. That seems to be the only real purpose of the llife stat.

Yeah it is small. About 1.2k. Thats where I am putting everything at the moment.

LOL.

You have 1.2k, I have 1.8K. Yet I die all the damn time:laugh:

Yeah. Your life nedds to be over 2K. End of act 5 and act 6 seem to be at the old cruel difficulty, act 7 too I wold think. I would imagine merciless difficulty will be act 8 through 10, in which you need about 4k life.

You need to git gud, scrub. I've way less health and still don't die was much!

But yeah, health and armour is where I'm putting points now. I might spec a few points and re-org a bit.

Just did twighlight strand after doing Kitvia and it was easy, had -20% chaaos res too.

The other path is an elemental minfield for me. Cold archers, fire dogs, caustic crabs, and fire totems.

For evade and all that I was just watching a video on that a few days ago, whether you're attempting this build or not, this guy shares a lot of details on how all of the systems work that maybe aren't so obvious and how to counterplay with the ideas. A little wordy, but definitely worth checking out:
