As much as i love the switch i cant play it in handheld mode for very long. The joycon sticks are awful and the whole thing is just awkward and bulky to hold.

The sticks are definitely awful. I'm gonna have to spend the $80 to get new joycons soon. Already.

How can not everyone in the world have that game yet???

I think it's because people who are buying a new console at this stage are casual gamers. Being filthy casuals, they are genetically programmed to buy a copy of GTA to go with their new console.

I'm not even talking about the durability of them, they just don't feel good on the thumbs.

Let's stay focused on sales, please.

Any word on how PUBG is performing for MS? It's #7 in the UK this week, but that's without digital, so it's hard to gauge. PUBG also went out in bundles, I think. Not sure whether those are counted here (if it's like NPD, they wouldn't be, but I don't know about this tracking firm).

It's in the top 5 paid digital games on the Xbox Store.

You would have to assume the Xbox Store sales for it would be higher than a normal game since what is being sold at retail is just a code so I would imagine its selling pretty well.

With PUBG being the most played PC game and big on X1 and Fortnite being the most played console game get ready for everything to be Battle Royale for the next couple years.

Yeah, I was just looking at the top 6 played games on Xbox One right now:

1. Fortnite (free one)
2. COD WWII
3. GTA V
4. Rainbow Six Siege
5. NBA 2K18
6. PUBG

Top paid has PUBG in the top 5 (well it did this weekend at least). However, the Xbox App on the Windows 10 OS doesn't have Top Paid as a section, so I don't know if it is in the top 5 paid today.

It also helps that PUBG is a $30 game vs. a $60 game.

It should pass lifetime PS3 and Xbox 360 sales by the middle of the year or so. PS+ subs at 31.5 million.

It was down 300K from holiday 2016, but that isn't surprising, given that Pro released last holiday, and X1X + Switch were new competition this holiday.

Official PR:

  • PS4 has sold through to consumers more than 5.9 million units during the 2017 holiday season.
  • PS4 has now cumulatively sold through more than 73.6 million units globally as of December 31, 2017.
  • More than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during the 2017 holiday season in retail stores worldwide and through digital downloads on PlayStation®Store. This totals up to 645.0 million copies cumulatively sold as of December 31, 2017.
http://www.sie.com/en/corporate/release/2018/180109.html

Tie ratio is 8.76 games/console.

20.2 million consoles sold in 2017. That's up over 2016, so it's probably their best year yet.

Yup, best year.

Congrats, Sony, on well-deserved success. And haha at the people who entertained the idea that Sony would release PS5 in 2018. Even 2019 is seeming unlikely now.

Woah, I thought GTS would’ve been hirgher, nice to see Forza up there thou.

Deleted several follow up posts. As I said above, this thread is for Sales discussion.

No clue. Unless it means like a 34/33/33 split ?

I think even at #1 they would have less share than last year because there are 2 other strong consoles and not just 1

So its either revenue based or the NPD/MS considers the Switch to not be a console.

Aaron won't tell us. Resetera might figure it out.

^ Resetera is scratching their heads. There are half a dozen different possible interpretations.

Greenberg will need to clarify his comment. Until then, it's not clear what he's saying. People asked him for clarification an hour or two ago, but he only responded with an unrelated pic of doritos and mountain dew, so he may not want to clarify.

I'm assuming that Xbox wasn't #1 in unit sales for December, or he would've said that. I suppose that was already clear, though. Insiders' fingers seem to be pointing to Switch as #1, which is pretty much what everyone expected.

My guess is that he is taking Switch out of the equation, and comparing December revenue for just Xbox One and PS4. He's saying that Xbox One revenue share (vs. PS4) is higher than it's ever been in December. ... which would be expected, since they just released a $500 console.
