Xbox One X

I have never liked the X1 dash but at least it continues to get better unlike the 360 which just kept getting worse after starting with the great blades dash.

I actually like the bones of the UI. I get to everything just fine. I like that I can pin a ton of stuff on the same screen. My biggest ask is to make the “recents” better. Like when I’m using my LG app on my tv, there’s blades showing a lot more recent apps. You should be able to sift through the last 10 things you did much quicker.

I don’t understand people wanting to make it like the PlayStation UI though. I find it boring and it’s really not that quick to go to jump around. Takes less time to get the hang of but that’s because it puts everything in a straight line...which I don’t find intuitive.

I'm not bothered with the Xbox dashboard. It's not awesome but it does what I want and more. I spend the majority of my time in the pop out guide and the Xbox Store. I just saw the latest update coming out and they keep adding more pretty cool features. This dashboard has more gaming features and requests in it then any dashboard, on any console ever. It has so many features that I won't use 90% of them. But I'm glad they are there for others that do.

Just keep the most recent game highlighted, keep the guide fly out fast and organized and please improve the store as well as give us a shopping cart.

Store is terrible.. slow, sluggish, sometimes doesnt remember where you were on a list when you go in and out of a game page, will move your focused item as it loads... just so many annoyances

wishlist and cart would be welcome additions, or even a shortcut for buying/downloading items, so instead of going into a gamepage you can just click X in the list view and buy/download the item

I'm not a fan of the UI. Honestly, I don't think the layout is terrible, its just slow. Doesn't seem any faster than my XB1. At least the games look incredible.

They probably don't need to display cover boxes in the store the size of the Empire State Building. Those have to load from the internet each time you go in.

Good thing they didn't go 4k on the dashboard. You could probably finish playing the game before the cover box loaded.

Xbox One X Hardware Was Even Better Than Expected; Both XB1X and PS4 Pro Have Their Own Advantages, Says Dev

The game is listed as Xbox One X enhanced on Microsoft’s dedicated page. Can you share your impressions on this newly released console as a developer and the technical specs of Railway Empire running on the hardware?

Microsoft sent us a development kit for the Xbox One X very quickly, so we were able to add support in time for release. Truthfully, the hardware was even more powerful than we expected. For the high-end PC version, we added native 4K support – including a high dpi user interface and high detail textures for most objects. On the Xbox One X, we were able to implement all of this, rendering 3D scenes in native 4k with our maximum quality antialiasing solution at 30 fps. So we are very happy with the results.

I just wanted to post that I was wrong. I think I said that the Xbox One X would drop out of the Amazon top 100 after Christmas. Surprisingly, it's at #52 right now. One of the Xbox One S consoles is at 37. Another is at 73. Those consoles were not even to be found in the top 100 early on last year. I know part of it is multiple sku's, but looks like they are doing well or they have less sku's.

Xbox One X will hopefully see a price drop this fall to keep it in the top 100 during the holidays.

The UI is fine imo. It's just frustrating to use because of the sluggishness.

Finding stuff is never an issue. It's navigating the laggy pages that is cumbersome.
Honestly it feels like Web TV or something.

I'm not a fan of the current UI. Of course I've learned to use it but it still irritates me every day. I just want Spotify, One Guide, and then the top couple games I'm playing at the moment at the top. It always feels like I'm jumping around to find my games, and having to go to the "games" list each time which feels wrong (probably I'm just juggling too many active games right now).

For me, UI is about KISS - keep it simple stoopid. This feels like it is trying to be too clever.

Why not just pin what you are using most? Then it's just a matter of pulling RT.

Pins my friend. Pins. You never have to leave the home page. First line is current game playing. Go down one to Pins, and boom...every game or app you want. I have a habit of using the flyout guide now and using the pins there because I am rarely on the actual dashboard. I always have a game playing, so the flyout guide, which oddly enough is like the 360 now, gets me EVERYTHING, fast.

I would expect it to perform wellish until march, by which time i expect it to drop to PS3 numbers.

could you let me know what MS is chasing

Based on their line up of games, their new console offering console gamers the best graphics and performance while being extremely quiet and reliable, dashboard features that continually add more....which is a response to consumer feedback and an online service that is rated the best in the industry, it seems MS is chasing gamers. Well gamers that aren't Japanese.

At least from my perspective (which matters to me), Xbox is firing on most of their cylinders right now. They have the exclusive games that appeal to me the most. The line up for this year seems to be spanning multiple genres. Single player and multiplayer support in many of them, extending their replay value. I already know of 8 exclusives that I am buying this year on my X1X. In addition, now that the Creators Club has taken off with ID@Xbox, the number of exclusives have been rampant. They finally got back to the indie game opportunities that the Xbox 360 had last gen (assuming indie games count again). There was about 140 of them released in the past few months, and I have bought a few of those already. So the exclusives are there, and as Phil stated, more are coming. So that is MS chasing gamers.

Then we have games like Anthem, Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 5, Monster Hunter World, Skull and Bones, Soul Caliber 6, Darksiders 3, Code Vein, Kingdom Hearts 3, Beyond Good and Evil 2....all of which will no doubt be Xbox One X enhanced, making the X1X the best place to play those games. Out of those games, I will for sure be getting 6 of them.

Microsoft is offering the gamer the best console (in performance and graphics) in the business, to chase the gamers. They offered a professional grade controller, The Elite, to chase the gamers. And sure, the custom colored controllers benefit MS financially, but my god the gamers love them. I have seen videos on youtube where people have 50 or more of them at their house customized. They are implementing keyboard and mouse support for games that the developer chooses. They offered the gamer backwards compatibility (Xbox 360 and Xbox Original) with the best games, at no additional cost. Which, of course chases the gamers. They are responding to gamers requests for clubs/clans, a endless list of dashboard enhancements (like literally thousand+ features added and modified). And how about cross platform play to connect PC, PS4, Nintendo and mobile phone together with Xbox. I have a nephew who play rocket league on his Xbox with his friend that has it on Switch. I mean, THAT is for the gamer.

They also take to social media and communicate with the gamers and respond to them. Phil Spencer, Mike Ybarra and Aaron Greenburg. They post, answer respond to the gamers. The other companies are not offering a social feedback avenue the way MS is. Granted MS needs to do that, being that they are the underdog here and way behind in console sales. A face for the company is good for the gamers.

My hard drive is packed with games, exclusives and multiplats. My face lights up every time I turn on my X1X to play a game. Do I want MS to have a line up of AAA internal studio games like Sony? Sure. I want them to be the RIGHT games for the Xbox fanbase. I don't want exclusives just to have exclusives. If MS added a ton of anime or japanese games that don't appeal to me, I won't complain. I know people want those on Xbox too. I won't necessarily play them, but if they lure in that crowd, more power to them. As it stands now, with the Xbox One have 1500 games to choose from and that library most likely will grow by 1000 this year with exclusives, ID@xbox, creators club and multiplatform.

Not enough time in the day, week, month and year for me to ever stay caught up.

I think MS is trying to chase away the Xbox One reveal and Kinect inclusion right now. Just my 2 cents.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is listed on Microsoft’s official Xbox One X enhanced page. Can you share with us your take as a developer on the ‘most powerful console ever made’ as well as the technical specifications of this version (native resolution, target frame rate, graphics settings etc.)?

Currently, it surely is the most powerful console. In general, it allows us to use 1440p resolution, top quality Global Illumination, more and better shadows, better lighting and LOD distances compared to the regular Xbox One.

could you let me know what MS is chasing because Sony have certainly got gaming and VR sowed up.

They have it today but there is no reason why that has to be the case going forward. Microsoft just needs to change their first party approach somewhat.

Ya, mine is slow lately but i attribute that to the holidays. Can't remember it being like this on the One S months ago. Now i have the mighty X and we're back to the stone age with the OG Xbox One. How does that work?

All exaggeration aside. I'm more than happy with my Xbox One X. Can't wait to get a 4K TV to really get the most out of it. Mine is now completely quiet after giving me an initial scare and my achievements are unlocking again after a hard reset.

This thread reveals people don't know how to use the Xbox dash. I never understood the hate in the past but now I get it. Microsoft should consider putting tips on the home page regarding features a gamer hasn't used yet.

People want games in a straight line like they are on the Playstation dash. You are a right trigger click away from something better. The pins are much better overall than a straight line of games and apps. Because sometimes instead of scrolling right 11 times, I can hit right once and down once. All your pins are available to you within any game. You can see a lot more things at one time. No matter what version of the dash Microsoft has gone with, I've used pins. It's pretty simple.

There's no lag scrolling through your pins.

The approach has been changed. We just won't be able to see the results of that change consistently for a couple years.

A good interface shouldn't require any understanding. When I hit RT it takes me to whatever the 1 page per game thing is. Is there a setting somewhere I can change that I don't know about? Probably.

The simplest solution is to put the last X number of things I ran in a row on the main page. Xbox does this but there isn't enough space.

It isn't a major deal obviously... I figure it out.

Max Payne 1 and 2 available for backwards compatibility?

Also haven't received the good news surrounding PUBG yet...

I have a bit of a dilemma. I have like $76 credit on Xbox store and I can't decide what to buy.

There are 4 games that I really want. Forza 7, The Witcher 3 Complete, AC Origins and Forza Horizon 3.
I had a chance to get a bundle with both forza games fo $65 but i dragged my feet and that sale is over. I also have GT Sport. So i thought 3 racing games would be overkill.

I have Witcher 3 on Pro, but I don't have the dlc expansions. Origins looks beautiful. But I haven't been a huge fan of the series. But this one does look good. I love the Egyptian setting.

I could wait for a sale and try to get a couple of games. But I've also been wanting Oblivion and The Orange Box. Decisions..........

I thought they announced a long time ago that they were making the Duke?

I would highly recommend AC Origins. I've dabbled in AC games in the past and they never really grabbed me. Only playing em for an hour and never touching them again.
But Origins is on a whole new level. Interesting story and side quests you actually want to complete to assist the down trodden who look up to you. I have all the games you listed and they're all very good but Origins is superb. I'm happy to just ride my horse around the desert and soak in the views sometimes.

Haven't played a Gran Turismo since GT5 Prologue, not sure how that series compares to Forza Motorsport, which I rather not play now since FH series exists. Did enjoy FM6 a bit though.

Probably better off purchasing the DLC expansions for the Witcher 3 when a sale presents itself on PS4.

My opinion on Origins or Assassin's Creed as a whole has changed over the years. Great game, great formula, all works well, but don't understand why a narrative based game has a yearly release. A biannual release is better but probably just going to finish the original story arc with Desmond and Unity and be done with the series unless a reboot or something happens.

Maybe the New Colossus?
