I kind of agree with JinCA as the game didn't appeal to me for the reasons he listed. But I do think it delivered the concept that they intended, and people appreciated its unique take on the genre.

Exactly. If the game didn’t appeal to you that’s fine. It did have a lot of problems. But they certainly did deliver on what they said they would.

To me it just got boring too quickly, not enough variety IMO but that's subjective. The jank and bugs on the other hand were awful and are at least partially responsible for why the game seemed like such a let down to me.

I can agree on not enough variety.

Yeah, the animations and performance could get annoying alright.

That new footage looks much improved. It has a more gritty look too. The shooting looks more visceral and punchy. This might be something special with coop.

I let my gold membership run out, can I play this online with silver? I forget how it works now.

Undead Labs has been quiet for a long time about State of Decay 2, but now that the release date and pricing have been announced we’re about to get a lot of information.

State of Decay 2 will receive its official gameplay reveal later today on IGN First but in the meantime, we’ve managed to find new screenshots and information on the game’s Microsoft Store page. In terms of technical specs, the game appears to support VRR or Variable Refresh Rate on Xbox One, though you’ll have to have a FreeSync compatible display to use this particular feature.

Another interesting tidbit is that the sequel will include “hostile humans”, unlike the first State of Decay game. This may spruce things up since players won’t just have to worry about mindless zombies.

When the dead rose fifteen months ago, civilization ended, and humanity was abandoned by its leaders. Now, scattered survivors must band together to survive and rebuild while facing threats of starvation, sickness, hostile humans, and of course, hordes of zombies!

State of Decay 2 is a community-centered survival-fantasy game, set in a zombie apocalypse. You control a unique group of survivors, deciding on the best strategies to keep these characters alive while improving their skills and gathering the resources they need. You choose where to make your stand, designing and fortifying your home base just the way you want it. You choose which of your survivors to put at risk performing daring raids for food and ammunition. You choose when to make contact with new survivors (who have their own goals and agendas), and which of these strangers you’ll rescue and recruit to your community.

Every player’s experience is unique. As you play, the open, sandbox world responds to your decisions, developing in real time and dynamically offering new opportunities for you to demonstrate your own personal survival priorities. These decisions also result in real, lasting consequences for your community. Send your best scavenger across the map to gather medicine for a sick friend… but know that they might not make it home. Help your neighbors, and you might make new allies… or you could decide that you need their food supply more than they do.

State of Decay 2 also offers a co-op multiplayer option, allowing you to invite up to three players to visit your community and help you complete your goals. Or you can jump into a friend’s game to see how their story has developed differently from yours.

The footage makes a much better impression than the 1st State of Decay did, sadly this is all high end PC footage, I wonder what differences there will be with the One X version as far as performance.

Do you think you could build a base before having to engage zombies?

Looks alright. But the video seems out of context. Really needed a bit of base building and community management in the middle of tye video.

Not sure about the plague heart stuff.

Overall combat looked better.

I'm gunnabe SOD's version of Manson. No bros, only hoes, and me and me bitches gunna terrorize the undead hordes.

I think this game is too huge to show off in a 25min vid, all the base building stuff could make it or break it. It looks far better than the original though, not just technically either.

just watched the IGN footage and this game looks really good. Just need to show something else. Killing zombies are not different from the others.

Does anyone know if DLC stuff is included with Game Pass?

Going to say no based on evidence of other games. Halo Wars doesn’t have that Flood DLC. Other games haven’t included expansion packs.

I believe one of the ways Microsoft will justify putting all their games in Game Pass is that it creates exposure and hooks more gamers who they can sell additional content to. Kind of like when a sports team gives away free tickets knowing you’ll still have to spend money on parking, hot dogs and beer.

Personally I’m ok with it as long as it’s transparent and they aren’t intentionally holding back half games.

So budget title confirmed then. That's unfortunate, i was looking forward to what they could do if properly funded. Still looks rough animation wise and not much of an upgrade to the graphics from the previous game. Guess i'll have to wait for Days Gone to get my gritty post apocalyptic game fix.

You could get both since they're completely different genres.

Oh, i'll get both. I'll have Game Pass later this month for Sea of Thieves and i'll keep my sub since everything is going there anyway. Pretty much done buying games for Xbox, there's no reason to. State of Decay 2 will be a happy meal throw in at that point. Might as well try it.

Not really sure that they're completely different genres. More like the same genre with different gameplay. Days Gone is a single player focused game whereas State of Decay 2 is probably better played in co-op but can still be played alone.

Anyway, i'm sure SOD2 will be fun even though it didn't get the treatment i was hoping for. Praying it's not a broken buggy mess like the first game at least.

You're somebody I hope to never meet in person...

Because i want a big budget game? Come on man. I know you're going to put another 4,000 hours into Killer Instinct this year but some of us want to see something truly gritty on Xbox. Not a big deal.

Nope I don't care what you think or want. It would just be annoying as hell to talk to you I think. You're all over the place, and it's kind of pointless in the end.

The worse game I have purchased this year is AAA call of duty wwii. It’s utter dogs***. This game on the other hand looks like a dream come true to fans of the first game.

Oh okay. Now that i agree with. Can you imagine what it's like in my head? I actually do a good job of keeping it in house among my friends. They'll be talking about other hobbies like biking, going to concerts, and i'm just trying to decide if i like Xbox or PS more that day. Always going back and forth. But i love both, and i think that's what makes the hobby great and fulfilling. For me anyway.
