Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Looks amazing. Unless I find Origins for super cheap this will be my first AssCreed since Brotherhood.

I'm so glad they brought naval combat back and let you do at when you want vs the way Origins did it. It looked great in Origins but it just never felt connected to the rest of the game the way it did in older AC games.

It's cool you can still "make friends" with the animals, you can still get a Lion or bear (and others) to follow you.

You can "make friends" with certain humans as well, but I don't think they follow you around afterward. :(

I'd rather have a Lion or a Bear backing me up them some shmuck with a weapon who's not as good as I am lol. of course if you mean the romance thing they'd just be a distraction anyway lol

Can't remember if I ever got a legit answer somewhere, but are these games even OG Assassin's Creed anymore? Anything to do with Desmond or the Animus, or is it just straight up ancient period story telling now?

The animus is still a thing for sure, at least in Origins. I've lost track of the story since after AC2 and now though.

So have the ... well, I'd like to say writers but that'd be awfully generous.

I've seen you post it twice. Started to reply both times. Then cancelled my posts because I have no idea, and I've played them all including the Vita and PSP games. There's just too many and they all never make much sense.

The more I see of this game the more I'm looking forward to it, the only negative I see is those giant group battles, it really looks like the animation quality in that crowd takes a hit.

As good as Origins looked this looks even better, it has more color and variety in the locations.

Looks so good, can't wait to play it! The naval combat looks great once again, those large army battles kind of take a hit visually in the background when it comes to animations but I guess when you are in the middle of it you'll be too busy playing to notice.

So many open world games I'm going to be playing this year, staring in September with Spiderman then AC, Just Cause, Red Dead 2 and then in Feb Days Gone. That's not even counting games like RE2 and Kingdom Hearts, my consoles are going to be tapping out this fall and winter lol.

Sounds like they've made a lot of improvements to combat. And I like hearing that "this one is a proper RPG." I'll definitely be getting this.

I really hope I can get the love of gaming back. I still game but I'm lucky if it's an hour a night. I need to get back into the "if I have free time I'm gaming" mood. There are so many games that look amazing and I want to play.

I waste what little gaming time I have in Destiny 2 lately. I just started Origins and it is a great game.

Origins my GOTY 2017, maybe it's cause I'm a father to a 2,5 yo but I really liked Bayek and would've loved him in spin offs a la AC Brotherhood/ Revelations.
This one looks amazing, the world looks just like I pictured the Greek antique islands although it looks very fantasy (which is fine).

I have AC3 and I think the one after that from when it was free on Uplay. Was thinking I'd play at least AC3 since it is Revolutionary War period. Otherwise the others really don't mean excite me that much. Ancient Egypt and especially Greece however does so I'll definitely give those a play sometime.

I don't have kids but I loved Bayek as a character, they did a great job making him a character you want to see win and the scenes where he and his son interacted were really well done.

I hope they use the time they have left to improve the facial animations, the faces of the main characters look great but the facial animations seem a bit off. If they aren't able to it's not the end of the world but it'd be a shame to model faces that look that good and not get the chance to animate them properly.

Skip the rest and just play Origins. You can thank me later

So, I'm playing Origins and loving it, but I just noticed there's all this story back in the modern world that I haven't read. Is it worth going through all that? I've pretty much played AC2 and one or two after but don't remember much about the story. I get enough enjoyment out of the stabby stabby really :)

The bits where you wonder around Abstergo are a bit painful. They're slow and jarring to the story flow. Having to wade through useless emails to get a few more details is a pin in the arse.

Black flag offered a slight incentive, by having little statues you could collect on the desk, but I don't think that story arc really relevant in a major way, other than enabling them to slap "Assassin's Creed" on the box.

If you took the animus aspect out of the game completely, I doubt anyone would lose sleep over it.

Black Flag was a lot of fun, it's worth playing for sure.
