"With E3 2018 only a few days away, the internet has started to fill up with articles predicting what we'll see at the show, to which I'd like to contribute one prediction of which I'm absolutely stone-cold certain: by this time next week, we'll definitely have seen a torrent of judgements regarding which companies have "won" or "lost" the industry's biggest annual event.
"It's easy to roll one's eyes at this decades-old industry ritual but, in reality, E3 conference presentations have often served as a pretty solid indicator of where companies' fortunes are headed. Whether that's because of the influence of the conferences themselves setting the tone for how the media and consumers view a company, or whether it's because the conferences can serve as a canary in the coalmine for a company's strategy or internal culture going wildly awry, or perhaps a bit of both, the result remains the same; whenever a platform holder is about to have an annus horribilis, they often precede it with an underwhelming, ill-judged, or downright embarrassing E3 conference."

Pfft. The only Superman game worth playing:
When I saw that game posted and had a few likes, I just KNEW that Dno69 would like that fog filled crap!
First Azurik, and now this?!
I remember being really interested in that game seeing pics of it in magazines. Then I saw it on display in Toys R Us or maybe GameStop and lost all interest. That’s a low blow man. Comparing Azurik to Superman 64. I thought we were friends?
A low blow... From me... And you're surprised? That’s a low blow man. Comparing Azurik to Superman 64. I thought we were friends?
Certainly shows a stark difference in interest. Not surprising the total viewers have a ratio of roughly 2:1 in favour of Sony, just like the sales figures for the hardware.Youtube viewing stats, fwiw:

Gears 5 (IGN) 296K views

Seems to fall in line with the sales numbers.Youtube viewing stats, fwiw:

MS definitely put on the best show. Very entertaining and right on point. I'm changing my vote to B+. I'd have given them an A- if they'd given us just one new game by 2019 or even the MCC announcement.
I hope someone takes notice of this E3, and then combines it all into a mega-s***-show next year.MS definitely put on the best show. Very entertaining and right on point. I'm changing my vote to B+. I'd have given them an A- if they'd given us just one new game by 2019 or even the MCC announcement.
I think MS did the best job they could do, given their situation (i.e., that they've got nothing new until 2020). They are in good shape because the mulitplatform scene is looking really good -- which benefits them, and which was shown heavily at their conference.
But MS put their money where their mouth is. They reassured people that good stuff is in the pipeline, which was the main objective.
Sony's presentation was a joke by comparison -- banjo guy, then an intermission after 30 min. (?), an awkward panel, then flute guy. A lot of fluff. Seemed pretentious.
I agree Ubi's show was better than Sony's. I think Sony's was better than Bethesda's. I liked watching the Sony games more than the Bethesda games.
Nintendo nowhere on the list. I'd put Nintendo #5.
