Giant Bomb interviews Phil Spencer, 6 pm pacific

It's on now, I'm listening. He's talking about E3.

That was a really good interview. Phil comes across pretty well in it.

Someone needs to ask him about KH Collection. I’m furious it wasn’t announced. However He confirmed they are at TGS this year. Maybe that is the time.

He did good. I'm coming back around to liking/trusting him again, after this E3. I was growing increasingly skeptical of him over the past 3 years, because of all the talk about better first-party with no follow-through, but this E3 was a very different picture. This was actually doing, not just talking. It makes me less skeptical of his talk and more able to believe he really does want what's best for gamers.

That was a good interview. He really comes off as a guy passionate about gaming and not just a suit making his boss and shareholders happy. Disappointed that there on't be a Sudeki 2 though. There were alot of good ideas in the original.

Just started listening now. Spencer always gives great down to earth interviews.

Jeff Gertsmann! The guy who got fired from Gamespot for giving K&L a 6/10.

Wait, does this mean azurik is still on the table?
Maybe...if the table is invisible and there is a toilet underneath it....or something. Frankly there is really nothing I would want to see from the OG Xbox outside of Crimson Skies and a return of PGR (but Forza Horizon is killing it rn so maybe that can wait). Phil needs to call up Itagaki/Valhalla and get them on board for a new kick ass NG spiritual successor goddammit!

Entertaining interview. Jeff does a good job. Phil handles questions as well as any gaming executive.

A good interview. I was hoping they would talk about a new Elite controller. I know it was a rumor, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Maybe when the new console hardware arrives in a few years.

Not only is Phil down to earth, but he actually gives you a sneak peek behind the business. You can actually understand why it's taking this amount of time for him to get XBox turned around.

Agree.

I've been thinking about getting an X anyhow. The multiplat advantage is clear, and we've got some good games coming up (AC Odyssey, Battlefield, RDR2, etc.). Plus the BC stuff is great for me, especially the X-enhanced games. And now Phil has me feeling good about him and the brand. Yeah, I'm probably jumping in.

I'm still hesitant to drink the Kool-Aid but he did a nice job in this interview.

I don't think any of us are like that. I think we're just commenting that he seems down to earth and is frank with his answers.

There are plenty of people (not just on here) who talk like he's the best thing that's ever happened to gaming and that he's the savior for xbox etc. He's been a lot of talk for a long time, maybe his hands were tied but he's been saying the same thing for several years now and they just barely started growing their 1st party studios.

He said the right things in this interview but he's said the right things a lot in the past as well, this is the first time he's said the right things and that there has actually been some action to go along with it IMO.

I like what I heard here for the most part and I'm glad they've started to grow, it's just a shame it's going to be next gen before we see any results from all these years of talk.

BTW when I said I wasn't ready to drink the Kool-Aid I didn't mean it as an insult to others, just that I wasn't totally ready to buy into this guy yet the way others seem to have but I am encouraged.

Yeah, that's what makes it different: there has been action this time.

Yeah, I gotcha. I don't think he should've been talking up 1st party investment for 3 years if it would take 5 yrs to deliver (by the time these games are out). I guess it took a while to get the ship turned around.

Playing Hellblade right now, and it's early but I like what I see. However, I hope that MS didn't buy Ninja Theory so that they can go and do Hellblade 2, Hellblade 3, etc. I hope that the team wants to just keep trying out new IPs.

If you watch the NT explanation video, they say they were given complete creative control. I don't think they'll become a Hellblade factory.
