Bottom line, they're changing from a 20% discount to a $10 credit. The credit is good for 60 days, so use it or lose it.

Not clear whether Sony games will be among the ones selected for the discount. PS4 games have been ineligible for Prime discounts in the past few months. You haven't even been able to pre-order many PS4 games on disc, even at $60 (e.g., Spider-Man, last I checked).

Apparently Canada doesn't get the $10 discount.

It also includes no more ad-free Twitch viewing, for those who care about that.

I never used it for buying video games. But I did use the ad ffee Twitch viewing. Lame considering they RAISED the Prime pricing.

Yeah, I had to run the numbers to make sure $120 a year was still worth it. It was, because I get a lot of cash back with the credit card, and I order a lot through amazon so the free shipping is nice. But part of my calculation was based on getting the discount on pre-orders. I might have to take another look.

I'm going to wait and see how narrow the selection is. If it doesn't apply to new AAA releases, I may drop it.

I cancelled it once my student price was no longer available. Now I'm probably never gonna renew, especially for $120. That discount made amazon my first choice for every new game.

Quite a shame they're making the service worth less as time goes on. But that's just business aint it. :smash:

Well that’s disappointing, atleast I got GCU for two more years....fawk I shoulda stacked up on it when I had the chance :’(

Disappointing. Might as well order through regular retail channels. There's no real reason to pre-order with them any more.

The twitch prime ads is the worst part. That was such a nice benefit.

I used to really like Amazon, but I've had quite a few problems with them over the last year.

This might be the last straw when it comes to cancelling prime.

The main reason I ended up getting Amazon Prime (last November) was to use the free Twitch sub with the bonus of no ads. I don't buy a lot from Amazon so 2-day shipping isn't a big thing. A lot of stuff ships from Milwaukee so it's here in a couple days even with slow shipping. I also don't watch a lot of their shows or movies either. When they raised the price of Prime I was already thinking of dropping it, although again, having that Twitch sub was nice. While I don't buy games to get the discount, this along with no more ad-free is just another lost value to a service that had the price raised. Maybe Bezos needs a few more billion.

It was a nice deal while it lasted. $48 US for brand new games (or you could basically get the deluxe version at regular price).

Yeah I didn't check the numbers but the cash back from the credit card should still be worth it if you use it a lot. I always have a couple hundred $$$ back each year. I bought myself a $200+ racing wheel last year just with that credit.

Plus I factor in how much time it saves me sitting in line at Wal Mart or similar places. I find most retail stores really awful lately. I would never even trust my local Best Buy to get enough copies of new releases in. My local store ran out of copies of Infinity War Blu Ray on launch day.

Do any of you guys like the Prime Video? I watch stuff on there often they’ve had some decent movie selections old and new.

Just started watching Sneaky Pete last night. I'm already hooked. Figured i might as well get my money out of the service. As if saving hundreds of dollars on shipping wasn't enough, lol.

it has tax for me

Interesting. I thought it was just a straight charge. I'll have to check next time.

I'm pretty sure the cash-back credit card evens out the cost, so I'll hang on to it. Then you throw in the free/faster shipping, and I still think it's a good deal. I order lots of stuff through amazon, though. For people who don't, I understand why $120/yr would seem unreasonable.

My current sub to Prime has been since last Nov, and I've only watched like half a season of The Grand Tour and maybe one or two movies? A few of the shows look good and really excited for Jack Ryan.

Funny how when the Prime discount ends, games that were unavailable for pre-order start showing up. Spiderman( Physical copy) is back up. I suspect over the next couple of days a slew of Sony exclusives and RDR2 will reappear.

Not for me. I don't want the $10 credit that expires in 60 days. I much preferred the old 47 bucks at checkout discount.

I don't care for it either. With taxes, its cheaper for me to go digital on Day 1 purchases. ( Wow never thought I'd say that). Plus the whole thing with not receiving the credit for 30-35 days after the game is shipped or digitally delivered seems kinda weak.

After having disappeared from their storefront for so long, it's good to see PS4 titles and Prime discounts up and running again. I'm also glad to see they're including major AAA PS4 exclusives, at least so far. They had talked about only "certain games" being selected for Prime discount, and I wondered if that meant they'd restrict the discount only to a few, select titles. So far they're including the big hitters, and that's good.

I don't really mind the 30 day wait or 2 dollar price difference. I shop so frequently at amazon, the timing doesn't really matter to me.

I didn't know GCU was discontinued (sub runs until November) or that Amazon ever offered a discount on new games.

So where is the cheapest place to purchase games now?

PC games = GreenmanGaming
Console games = Milage may vary but there may not be a one stop shop for console games anymore. You're going to have to check aound different retailer and online.
