I am on sick leave at home from a major knee injury. The doctor said I need MRI but he thinks my Meniscus might be broken. Just staying at home watching movies.

So far I am watching World trade center. It almost likes 4D cinema, as I experiencing the same horrible pain as the characters trapped under the rumble.

Talking about immersion.

Got the job and I can get started after Thanksgiving. Now I can kick back and get in a vacation while knowing I have a job after the holiday.

I need to go to orientation in Georgia and get assigned a truck. I hope I get a Kenworth.:txbcool: I will drive for 12 days and get 3 days off and average 2450 miles per week mostly in the Southeast or Texas.

This is still a weird way to make a living; I guess I'll just live on tons of Music, Audiobooks, or Podcasts everyday to pass the time. Good Comedy Audio books are the best for passing time and miles.

Maybe I'll even like it better without the bullsh;t winter and during the summer I'll at least sit in air conditioning.

Get Trevor Noah's audiobook. It's great.

How much does it take to fill up one of those? Gallons and cost? Are they all diesel?

Most are Diesel, but some LNG or CNG which is compresses or liquid natural gas. I've never used a natural gas truck, but drivers complain saying they're low power.

I've driven Diesel trucks that hold 250 or up to 300 gallons. With high prices, I've seen the cost to fillup from empty over $700.

Also, the mileage for a semitruck is maybe 7 or 8 miles per gallon. That sounds horrible, but they may have up to a total combined weight of truck and cargo of 80,000 pounds.

I've been working a 7 on 7 off schedule since June. Stay in camp and drive 5 hours one way once a week and I hate it. I don't know how the hell you're able to drive all day, every day.

Obviously it's a company credit card that you use? One fill up gets you from New York to Nevada.

Yeah we all get company fuel cards.

I can't go quite that far on 1 fill up, but 2 or 3 states usually. I can also depend on the terrain. Appalachia hills kind of slow things down and use up more fuel climbing steep grades.

Yeah it can be boring AF, but it's hard to get out of an industry that takes up so much time that it's hard to retrain. Sometimes we can take a break while docked waiting to load or unload.

It's also discouraging that so many related warehouse jobs would be a cut in pay. I might be able to transfer to an office job someday or work in driver training.

I know I'll love taking my gaming laptop on the road to help unwind after driving all day. Looking forward to DooM: Eternal for that.

Start live streaming your driving. There's someone on Reddit that posts videos of him and his cat. Not sure if it's a stream or if he just uploads it end of day.

Videodrome you totally should. You may catch yourself escaping danger with your ninja trucking skills or something cool like a meteor, or even the next time your're abducted by aliens.

I used to post videos to my Facebook mostly to show friends and family my crazy job and where I'm at.

I'll have to look into a Dash Cam or GoPro that can run Hands Free. Companies are getting very strict about people using mobile devices and I'm banned from have a Cell Phone within arms' reach.

If you're wondering, that is enforceable. Modern fleets have Safety / Event cameras that record in front of the truck and also record the driver. They are only supposed to send video of the driver during 'Events' like hard breaking or following to closely. It can also be set off just being on a bumpy road. If I hit the brakes to hard while playing with my phone I could be recorded and fired.

It would have to be a camera that I start before driving and records continuously and I edit or trim the video later when I'm parked.

This hard core hands-free rule is awkward because I used to use Audible on my phone, but this company doesn't want drivers to even be able to reach for a Cell Phone. BlueTooth Headsets are allowed, maybe I can set mine up to start or pause Audible.

Sounds like you need the Navitron Auto Drive from The Simpsons.

Edit: also this is the one I'm talking about. Look at all that sweet ass karma he's raking in.
