Played online for 2 hours, that consisted of 90 minutes of riding from point A to point B. Stopped playing once I realized they locked fast travel behind rank 65 and attached a microtransaction to it.

The microtransaction are just dumb, they literally made somethings microtransactions only. Just another shiity company. You watch nobody complain about this just because it's R*

Yeah. Kind of surprised to see fast travel locked out at level 65. I played for 3 hours and nearly got one gold bar already so I think I can buy that option early by just playing the game. You can also fast travel from any town or train station from level 1. Not sure what the point of making the camp one level 65 is.

You can use the Online menu to jump straight in some games. It’s only the Free Roam missions that you need to access from the map.

I’m hoping they might rework the fast travel system a bit overall though.

Mmm might just be sticking for RDR 1 online. Sadly after GTA V I think we all knew it would be similar

I agree about the MTs. Thankfully the SP is fantastic and MP was never a part of my purchase motivation, so MP would just be the cherry. I NEVER by MTs anyway, so I ain't a part of that problem.

It's a shame cause the first games online was great and well balanced

I can only hope they’ll change this to make it better balanced. I don’t like the way the camp system works. It’s constsbtly moving and often ends up the other side of the map from me. That combined with the level 65 fast travel is irksome to say the least.

Just an obvious s***ty way to try and make people pay.

Yeah I think so because it doesn’t make sense in context to have it locked out at a huge level otherwise. That said you can’t actually buy it either because the Store is closed for the beta.

What makes it really odd is that the fast travel system isn’t as bad as i initially thought. You are never more than a two minute ride for a fast travel point. And you can use them with the in game dollars and every one is immeadiately available for use. I was zipping around the map no bother last night. I just find it annoying that you can’t travel to your camp. But honestly what I find WAY more annoying is that your camp randomly moves every half hour or so. Quite often it’s ended up the complete other side of the map.
This is a Beta so I’m hoping they’ll fix some of these problems. I might go and check feedback forum and see what the general consensus is.

I used fast travel last night for $3 to get to a mission that paid out $2.50

Online is pretty trash

The fast travel is terrible. It costs like 2 to 5 dollars each time but the amount of money you get for completing stuff isn't much
more. So, you basically just do all this stuff to fund fast traveling. It's dumb.

It isn't great that is for sure. It isn't very rewarding at all. The world feels empty and lifeless. There doesn't seem to be too much interesting things to do. The story stuff thus far just seem like fetch quests.

Are Gang Hideouts even in yet?

Gang hideouts are in it. I did a few of them. Not sure they work properly though. One gave me a reward and one didn’t.

To be honest I’m a little disappointed in this. I’m enjoying F76 way more and that’s saying something.

I am late to the party, but I finally bought RDR2 on PS4. I figured if I didn't buy now with my extended week of medical leave (til 9 Dec), I doubt I may have time for such a large game when it releases the best version, on PC.

The game bores the s*** out of me. Looks amazing on the X1X but looks alone isn’t keeping me playing the game.

I stepped away a little. Playing Hitman 2 and MTG. Will get back to it. But I get what some are saying.

I short review after finishing 1st chapter.
Visuals are good, & story & animation as good as claimed.

The UI is confusing, & the game tries to throw a lot of things at you at the same time, You can have a conversation with someone, & the right top screen flashes some new controls at you, & disappear before you can finish reading them. It took me like 2-3 min to find out how to equip a rifle from the horse. The tip was not helpful at all, along with the line of "equip the rifle from the weapon slot" Took me 2 mins to find out the weapon slot is the left side with a bag as the current icon!

also its weird, & probaböly hard for people with some finger disabilities, where you have to hold the inventory with L1 (or left shoulder) while scrolling with L2-R2 (left-right trigger), resulting in using the middle finger to hit the trigger while holding the left shoulder with index. I can get used to it, but completely unnecessary.

Then the combat. You would be taught the game came out in 2005 before Gears 1, & also with the most rubberband autoaim I have seen. I have seen people defending the shooting as "intended" or "suit the game", but come on. The only time the shooting feel okayish is with slow-mo bullet time mode.

I also experience one of the most dragful experience in gaming. In an earlier mission, I was told to gabble (or whatever that is called) a man, then I was lost what to do next. I painfully spent like 30 mins to grab him through thick snow back to camp. Nothing happened. I then have to go online to know I am supposed to tie him, (which the game never made clear), then put him on the horse. ALl the time on the journey there was a "Hold L2 & dismounted". I held L2 multiple time, nothing happened. Apparently, I am supposed to held L2 & get very close to him, then the screen will flash (tie him up or something).... Should I have known? maybe, but I am sure I am not the only one who missed this, which can be solved with clearer instructions.

It may all seems I am overly critical, & I am. That's not to say its a bad game, but it's frustrating, all the effort to make good story & environments, they could devote more time on UI & combat.

I give the game another shot before deciding if I am trading in the game on Monday.

I played a bit more. I don't this game is suitable for people that can only have short game sessions (sub 1 hour-1.5Hour). Many missions are pretty long & you can't save within mission. An omission no reviewers' mentioned. Not to mention the long distance between areas. Even when you save manually, the game restart you in some rather random locations.

The unpopular opinion is the gameplay in this game is slightly above average. Its strength is the visuals, animation, realism & story. It feels like playing a Netflix Wildwest TV series. I do admit it is mostly enjoyable, as a package. To be fairly I am fairly early into the game, & maybe the gameplay will improve as I go, but as of now, the gameplay is pretty dull.

See, I disagree. I like the gameplay. Its weaknesses are the story--very dull, the long ass traversing times. Too many fetch-esque quests...and the overall world seems to lack interesting things to do.

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions.

I think how much enjoyment one gets out of the game depends how much you like to roleplay as a cowboy outlaw. It feels more like a cowboy simulator than a traditional game.

Hands down my favorite game this gen, though admittedly not a huge feat to achieve in what I feel has been a lackluster generation overall, but RDR2 is one of a very few high points for sure.

How's the online?

It’s strange. The slow pace of the game and amount of griefing that can go on just really don’t gel well I think. I’d be playing it more if any of friends we’re playing it but playing it solo isn’t really interesting.
