I don't really think the Switch will be poaching any consumers. It's a secondary console like the Wii.I wonder how well Xbox Two and PS5 will fare against the Switch in gen 9. Switch has a sizable head start.
Even though mine is full of dust...i would have to disagree especially if Nintendo makes a Pro version of switch.I don't really think the Switch will be poaching any consumers. It's a secondary console like the Wii.

Nah. Only Nintendo only consumers buy only a Switch from what I can see. I don't see many gamers buying a Switch INSTEAD of a console from the other two. Not instead of, but in addition to.

Huh you said earlier people buy switch as a second console.Nah. Only Nintendo only consumers buy only a Switch from what I can see. I don't see many gamers buying a Switch INSTEAD of a console from the other two. Not instead of, but in addition to.
Gaf?Some data to support that... I ran a poll at GAF, asking what combination of consoles people owned. Of the 273 people responding, only 1.8% -- less than 2% -- owned only the Switch. Almost every Switch owner also owned a PS4 and/or Xbox One.
Huh you said earlier people buy switch as a second console.
Being that switch outsells Xbox every month...its obviously chosen by many instead.
PS4 outsells both so that won't work.So you know how many of those bought didn't already own one?- the xbox has been out for a lot longer, and it selling better doesn't mean being bought instead of.
Beyond that, I was referring to both MS and Sony, not just xbox. I was saying you buy the Nintendo in addition to, not in leu of one of the other consoles, this, it's not going to poach next gen purchases.
Gaf?
lol
Polling any hardcore gaming forum is useless in determining Nintendo console owners. People that own only Nintendo consoles are far more likely to be casual.
Switch selling better tells me that many are buying it instead of XB.
See my response above.
I know GAF used to be very pro Nintendo and assuming it still is post exodus I still don't think it matters. Its an extremely hardcore gaming forum so it should feature a bigger percentage of multiconsole owners and smaller percentage of Switch only owners.
That poll means nothing though with such a small amount polled and gaf being the site.Good one.
GAF is actually a very Nintendo-friendly site. Not saying that's representative of the general pop -- no doubt you've got a lot of casual gamers who're buying just a Switch -- but less than 2% is a pretty striking result, in a Nintendo-friendly forum.
Nintendo gamers are hardcore with many more gamers lining up for consoles and portables then Xbox and many times PlayStation.Sure GAF is a hardcore forum (and still has lots of pro-Nintendo folks), and that's why it does matter. Hardcore gamers are the ones who will be lining up to buy $500 next gen consoles. That's what we were talking about -- whether Switch would "poach" buyers of PS5 or the next Xbox. I say no, and the 2% Switch-only ownership rate supports that. What casuals do isn't all that important, because casuals aren't the ones who're going to be buying the next gen machines, at least not for the first couple years. Those will be the hardcore gamers.
When next gen comes in all its power, very few hardcore gamers are going to say to themselves, "You know, those brand new, bleeding-edge console look sweet, but what I really want is a 900p console that's been around for 3 or 4 years."
Secondary choice? Sure. Primary choice, to the exclusion of others? By hardcore gamers? No way.
That poll means nothing though with such a small amount polled and gaf being the site.
Try it on resetera
I'm just offering some data, rather than just your opinion or my opinion or Frozpot's opinion. I didn't claim it was a thorough survey of the entire gaming landscape. It's just a poll of a gaming forum. You don't like the results? So what. You don't like data showing the earth is round. If you have alternative data, let's see it.
You try it on Resetera. I don't see any reason why results would be different.

Again using "lol" rather than reason or argument.Again using that poll lol
And i am not comparing switch to PS5 or XBV...i am talking about a Switch Pro or a new device altogether.
Exactly what I was saying, thanks. Poach, is the operative word. There aren't many people switching over to Nintendo and skipping one of the other two.Sure GAF is a hardcore forum (and still has lots of pro-Nintendo folks), and that's why it does matter. Why would i try a poll? You think they reflect the masses.I'm just offering some data, rather than just your opinion or my opinion or Frozpot's opinion. Power doesn't win sales. There are the hardcore Nintendo fans, that's true. They'll buy anything Nintendo, and I guess some would be happy with only a Switch. They seem to be a rare breed on gaming forums. I don't see many. Are there any here? I don't think so. 2% at GAF. Probably similar percentage at ResetEra. Maybe they all congregate in Nintendo-only forums, I don't know.
Again using "lol" rather than reason or argument.
You did say Switch Pro. So it would depend on how big of an upgrade that represented. If it's a Pro-level upgrade (i.e., pretty modest), then I don't think it'll shift the needle much. That is, I don't think people are going to just buy that, rather than PS5 or Scarlet, when next gen rolls around. They aren't doing it with the Switch now, so I don't see why a modest visual upgrade would shift the tide, especially when the other consoles are making a big leap forward.
Now if it's a massive upgrade, something that brings it close to the other next-gen consoles, both in power and in 3rd party coverage, then that's another story. Then I could see people buying Switch rather than and instead of the others. But I don't know anyone who thinks that will happen.
