So I figured I would ask my favorite group of gamers in the world on thoughts or experience with headsets. I was thinking about getting a headset for my Xbox, as I just experience what it was like using a headset (other than the default headset for talking). I have a Bose set I use with my phone and laptop for travel on airplanes. It's a compact headset and no mic. But I tried it by plugging into my controller and WOW did it sound amazing. I put on my headphones because my wife doesn't want to hear the shooting while she is next to me either reading or watching the TV that is next to my gaming TV.

I have these:

But I don't want to use them on the Xbox as they have no mic. Also, after awhile they hurt behind my ears as they press my glasses against the side of my head.

The other big thing is, I have menieres in my left ear, so I lost about 90% of my hearing in that ear. My right ear is 100% fine. So I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a gaming headset that might let you direct more sound from one ear to the other ear to give you even better surround awareness for issues like I have. I mean with my Bose, OMG, I could hear someone walking up next to me as I was hidden under a bush in Blackout. It happened twice, and it was sick that they got that close...but I was prone, and they didn't see me, and I heard them start to walk away.....but I couldn't tell the direction they were walking most likely due to my left ear.

So I am looking for:

  • Quality
  • Surround control for each side
  • Works on Xbox is most important, but if it works on PS4, bonus
  • Does not hurt my ears with glasses on after prolonged use
  • Wired and wireless, doesn't matter to me
  • Price is really no object
Anyone have any advice?

I've used these forever. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. These are not wireless, but there is an option available.

Amazon product

I recently picked up the Razer 7.1 Xbox headset. It’s fantastic.

Think you might struggle to find one that has independant ear control.

Astro A50s?

I have those.
Yes! I was working on the setup last night. Not sure if the firmware updated when I plugged it into my computer though. I am really liking these and they are super comfortable. Switching between the three modes makes a noticeable difference. I am using mode 2,Pro mode, as they say it's best for shooters to hear foot steps.

I listed to some Dolby Atmos trailers in the Xbox Dolby Atmos app, and I play a little BLOPS 4 and FH4 to get a quick sample before I turned on Live PD. Those games sounded awesome. However, I purposely slid to my knees in BLOPS4, and I don't think I heard the slide. Not sure.

BTW, I got the Xbox official ones, they are green, and Gen 3 with the magnetic charging base.

Any recommendations for setup on the Astro dashboard?

I donpt have a dashboard.

I am eyeing the HS75xb or the Steelseries Arctis 7x. I like the steelseries one because it works on everything. These are great because it comes with Dolby atmos.

These are going to be my next buy once they in stock again.

Was looking at these the other day. Not sure where you are waiting for stock, but Scan.co.uk had them in stock yesterday.

I was checking Amazon for delivery and then the local electronic stores over here. I’ll have a look at scan now.
The reason I’m considering these is the sound range 10 to 50mhz. Most others only to 10 to 20mhz. Plus they have 100mm planar cups. The depth of sound in these will be better than anything else I’ve found.
