Official Thread The Switch Thread

I think it's worth it - if you're into the Zelda, Mario, Smash, Pokemon, etc. stuff. Zelda is the biggest departure for them but everything else is what you'd expect from the longstanding series.

BotW was worth it alone for me, honestly. It's the best game I have played this generation.

I got a Switch for BotW. It's good, but I'd personally take the Witcher 3 (my GotG so far) over it every time. Zelda does a great job rewarding exploration, and it really exploits the meager hardware.

Also, anyone saying RDR2 is a kids game needs their head examined (sorry Val) ;) . It's everything kids don't like. Slow, deliberate, and esoteric world building with complicated non-twitch gameplay.

Is the Switch worth the purchase now? Thinking about getting one after the first of the year, but I see a lot of people complain it doesn’t get used much and not a big list of games to get.
I play it about 30% of the time while my stefan gets the rest. Skyrim, diablo 3 and zelda are time sinks and the rest are awesome for gaming nights with friends. Mario odyssey is overrated imo but I've collected about 500 moons so I guess it's high value and prob played at least 100h

Yep. Mario Odyssey and Zelda are 2 of the best games this gen, Smash Bros. Is amazing, can’t wait for Metroid Prime 4 and Luigi’s Mansion 3.

Problem is I’ve already played hundreds of hours on Skyrim and Diablo 3. Zelda BOTW and new Mario do look amazing though.

I did too lol
But just to be able to play in my couch when wife watches tv is amazing. Or take it in car or otherwise place with no tv, it just feels great even though I've played the games before. Should tell that I rarely play on TV though, it just feels....a little blurry on a 4k tv if you know you could play same game on stefan. I did play much of zelda on TV though and thought it looked great.

I remembered I had a Switch and finished off Bayonetta 2 before jumping into Resident Evil Revelations and Mario Kart for most of the week.

Not a bad deal on Octopath Traveller. Being it's on a Nintendo console hard to judge possibility of sales in the future. Either way that price is better than what I can get with my Gamer Club price.

Still not sold on Odyssey. It's not terrible but no way near as good as reviews made out.

Hat gimmick gets old quick and then it's the exact same gameplay since Mario 64.

Enjoy the 2D bits but they aren't long enough and less said about the boss fights

The Hat gimmick is fine but the gameplay when you transform to stuff is mediocre to good, the ability to throw it is a great addition though.
It's a good game, but in no way a 10 imo. Zelda is a better game even with the bad and archaic side mission structure.
Honestly the greatest time I've had with Mario is Super Mario world and I've been playing Marios since the first one on NES.

And me saying it’s amazing is my opinion, and I say that by playing it. One of if not the best game this gen.

Odyssey will never be as bad as Sunshine.
What's New Super Mario Bros like?

Need an F-Zero already.

I didn't play it on Wii U so i'm really enjoying it. It feels different than i last remember a 2D Mario playing. There is more momentum to the character movement and to dash a button must be pressed, that took me a few level runs to get used to. There is a bit of variety with the different power ups. Like a frozen flower that can freeze enemies, a baby yoshi that can be used as a balloon to get over a level easy and all characters act differently, but I've only used Mario so far so i can comment much there. Nabbit and Todette apparently make the game turn into easy mode.

Yeah I saw Nabbit can only die by falling. Takes no damage from enemies.

Best played in 4 player or just as fun single?
