GotG.
This again. The kiddies love it and made it what is, all the grown ups I game with on Live can’t stand the game.

Why should I buy it from Epic's store? Because it's $10 cheaper or they give a bigger portion to the devs? Most Steam games I buy are cheaper than $10 off because Steam allows their codes to be sold elsewhere. As stated I have no problem with multiple launchers. I buy stuff from Origin and uPlay. This is what I have a problem with:
I agree that the devs getting more money is awesome.Epic store is new, so its features maybe lacking. I maybe bias, but giving a bigger share of the pie to Devs than to the service providers is a reasonable reason to support Epic store. Making game is a tough business, & that extra $ to devs can means a lot including hiring more people, making better games with bigger budgets, or even staying afloat. If more developer went down, you get less games. Either way, it will still impact consumers, even if one don't care about devs profitability & suvivibility.
That's a very...intellectual, or high brow take on the matter, isn't it? The pro sports league evidence blows your argument out of the water so there's no point in rehashing that again.
No publisher/developer escaped this gen better than Epic. They made a GotG type game and got the ball rolling on a true Steam competitor. Can't ask for much more than that. Hats off to them.
Again I'm glad it's helping the devs and competition is good. But throwing Tencent's billions of dollars to bribe publishers for their content isn't the way to go about building a new platform and getting the gamers on board. Sure, Reddit, Steam forums, comments on gaming news sites, etc is only a fraction of gamers, and who knows which comments are actually genuine, but it's not looking like a smart decision on either Epic's or the publisher. If they want to be competitive with Steam, they need to work on a better feature set and make the case to gamers to support them based on what they give back to the devs if that is their reasoning for this.Epic store is new, so its features maybe lacking. If you haven't played the first two, they remastered them for Xbox One and usually sold together for pretty cheap during a sale.Game looks really good. This game has thrown a wrench into my plan. Now I'm thinking of getting this and holding off on Anthem which comes out a week later. We'll see how it goes as we get closer to launch. I really like the Mad Max looking apocalyptic setting.
Again the kiddies love watching gaming streamers and the gaming pro sports league. I don’t know a single adult that watches it.
Sigh...
Do intelligent people assess the world around them based on anecdotal evidence or do they try to gather broader, more relavent data?

Now go Google how the NBA, MLB, NHL, European Soccer, Hollywood Actors, and Musicians have embraced Fortnite.
Also, I don't know many adults who call kids/children "kiddies". A little creepy.
TLDR: Epic smashed it out of the park this generation.
Worst popular game ever then.
Go tell Epic. I'm sure they'd like to know.
Salt.
Maybe you've got something. During a break at the Bulls game this past Sunday they were running a video of some kid asking players questions. Kris Dunn answered he was good at Fortnite.Sigh...

Yeah, it really does appeal to all age groups.
Wrong. Like I said kids love the game and it appears athletes and other celebs jumped on the bandwagon. The adults I know play better games. It’s the Candy Crush of console gaming.
Smashed it out and lost respect from the non casual gamers who used to support them.Sigh...

Wait, adults are only playing Fortnite, often sinking hundreds or thousands of hours into the game, because of some vague...bandwagon? What will this evil bandwagon do if people decide to stop playing? Will the bandwagon hurt them?
The adults you know play easier games. Not better games.
As for your Candy Crush comment. Here's a simple definition for you.
"A casual game is a video game targeted at or used by casual gamers. Casual games may exhibit any type of gameplay or genre. They are typically distinguished by simple rules and by reduced demands on time and learned skill, in contrast to more complex hardcore games."
Fortnite doesn't really fall under that definition now does it? Candy Crush does. You don't really get anything more hardcore than Fortnite on consoles.
And people wonder why I speak with so much authority on this medium. Knowledge.
Let me ask you guys this,
What is your definition of casual and hardcore?
In my opinion the whole thing of Casual vs. Hardcore gamer is nonsense. We're all just gamers and the amount of time spent gaming or the game we play doesn't indicate nothing other than a preferred preference or time constraint.
I think that's koombaya hippie nonsense.
Casual games like Candy Crush appeal to a pretty specific type of psychology.
Fortnite appeals to a specific type of psychology.
Resident Evil 2 appeals to a specific psychology.
Imagine applying this logic in strategic publisher meetings.
"OK, so Resident Evil 2 is going to appeal to our male 16+ demographic so we should spend our marketing dollars in these specific places..."
"Woah woah woah. Games are games man. We can't be targeting anyone. We should be avertising RE2 in Teen Cosmo, AARP, and Ebony Magazine..."
What you describe is game preference and marketing targetting as such but not any kind of definition of a casual/hardcore gamer. If you like to promote division and the whole us vs them narrative by all means you're welcome to it. I'm not looking to insult you in any way this just reflects my opinion.
