Yep, the language is obvious.More like Woke-tang based on that recruitment tweet.
As long as the game is good.More like Woke-tang based on that recruitment tweet.
Sure, if it turns out good, all the better. That tweet just makes me think they'd hire a less qualified "POC" over a more experienced 'cis-white male', which would have direct, negative impact on the quality of the game. No skin off my nose though, can't say I'm overly interested in the concept to begin with.Another Martial Arts themed game, and possibly a killer sound track if they use Wu Tang's older music.

This is probably a bad analogy but I’m yeah….That’s like saying the lowerider scene would be against the inclusion of anyone other than Hispanics/chicanos. If they know the source material and are respectful of it then al the power to them, many lowriders/car-fandom from Japan, Thailand, Korea, Germany, and basically anywhere have. Honestly I wonder if the Uk or Ireland have one, never looked into it….enough of a tangent lolSure, if it turns out good, all the better. What? I really don't think what I said is anything like either of those suggestions. This is probably a bad analogy but I’m yeah….That’s like saying the lowerider scene would be against the inclusion of anyone other than Hispanics/chicanos. Anyways, it’s like saying ghost of Tsushima shouldn’t exist because it wasn’t made in Japan by a Japanese…anime doesn’t even work like that see porter robinson - shelter v weaboos
The real question is: why do you assume it means they'd hire less qualified people.Sure, if it turns out good, all the better. There was a Q&A with John Carmack at ID not that long ago and someone asked him why they hired so few women, and he straight up said that they didn't apply, but he'd be happy to hire women if they were qualified and submitted an application. I firmly believe that video game development is ultimately a meritocracy for the key roles - if you are talented and qualified then welcome aboard, but if not a huge project isn't going to be jeopardized for the sake of being diverse. The real question is: why do you assume it means they'd hire less qualified people.
I don't assume they would, I just said the tweet to me suggests they'd prioritize a "diverse" hire over the most qualified hire. I'm not saying that an applicant can't be both the most qualified and meet their diversity metrics, but I think if 2 applicants showed up, one a slightly more qualified white boy, the other being.... something else, my thinking is, these guys might go with the 2nd option...The real question is: why do you assume it means they'd hire less qualified people.
They don't suggest that in the tweet.I don't assume they would, I just said the tweet to me suggests they'd prioritize a "diverse" hire over the most qualified hire. Did you apply for a job and they hired “something else” instead?I don't assume they would, I just said the tweet to me suggests they'd prioritize a "diverse" hire over the most qualified hire. It may be standard talk, like a few jobs I’ve applied they list out all that…. There’s literally a wall with all it listed, it’s a private company though.
Is it not strange to anyone else that "women, NB and BIPOC" were strongly encouraged to apply? Aren't they just trying to put together the best team they can? Why make that distinction? It just seemed odd to me to single out a subset of potential candidates to 'strongly encourage' applications from and suggested, to me anyway, that it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that a persons gender, sexual orientation or race could be a determining factor in who they decided to hire. Also, bare in mind I haven't ruled out the possibility that I'm totally off base here & inferring a subtext that isn't actually present, I wouldn't rule that out either.

May they say that to inform those who that their environment/ethic is all around inclusive.
Have you seen more and more companies are becoming more tolerable to those who smoke with or without a prescription. I think a coworker got caught smoking in the lot, but in their car, and was told the next smoke on the side walk, or I. Their car on the street, basically anywhere off of the company grounds.I suppose it could be that it's just standard practice now. If that is the case I'm all the more the fool, it just struck me as odd as I'd never seen that sort of thing. I do live in a part of the country where diversity is very, very low, so it's out of pure ignorance I perhaps read more into it than was intended. The last ad for a job I saw just asked for people who are drug free and had a strong work ethic so...
Can't say I have but I work in a fairly regulated facility and I don't think any of my colleagues would pull such a stunt, haha.Have you seen more and more companies are becoming more tolerable to those who smoke with or without a prescription. I'm sure it's a combination of both, looking for some tokens, but encouraging "women, NB and BIPOC," to apply, in a traditionally white male dominated industry, isn't a bad thing. I'm going to take a guess that there are many qualified "women, NB and BIPOC," but don't, or hesitate, to apply because of history.
