I never once argued that. I said the reviewer was a raging lesbian that had a hardon for Aloy and barely mentioned a word about gameplay.

Why so defensive? You act like I want the game to do bad. On the contrary I bought and I have a raging hardon for the game. I just thought the Engadget review sucked.

What? That's just a silly thing to call me 'so defensive' rereading what you quoted, and yet calling someone a raging lesbian from reading a review in the same sentence. Lol

Expected at least a recommended from EG

Horizon: Zero Dawn is a work of considerable finesse and technical bravado, but it falls into the trap of past Guerrilla games in being all too forgettable. For all its skin-deep dynamism it lacks spark; somewhat like the robotic dinosaurs that stalk its arrestingly beautiful open world, this is a mimic that's all dazzle, steel and neon yet can feel like it's operating without a heart of its own.

I read that whole review and I find it odd. It's got meaty combat, brilliant creature encounters, loads of tools and upgrades, fantastic graphics and yet it's forgettable?

I must be blind. I can't see where their final rating for it is? Usually it has a badge or something that says "recommended", no?

If it doesn't have the badge then it's not recommended. That's how I think they do it.

Man....I don't know why they bothered to change their rating from numbers. They could have just left well enough alone. Oh well.

Basically recommended is 8/10

Essential 9 or 10 and avoid 3 or less

Random dude I follow on Youtube called it one of his favorite games of all time, said he really wished that it wasn't an exclusive so everyone could play it. Guess I have to decide which version I'm pre-ordering now!

88 on metacritic. Crazy how many quality games have been released in the first two months of the year.

The Collector's Edition is enticing. I won't be buying the game right away so maybe I'll get lucky and find it on sale by the time I do get to it.

This got me hyped for its release in a week! PS just churning those games out the past 2 months!

It really is too much I think. Curious to see how the second half of the year ends up, because so far there are too many games I want to play.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-horizon-zero-dawn-ps4-pro-performance-analysis

We're still working on our main Horizon Zero Dawn coverage (expect much more later in the week), but it's worth pointing out that even this performance analysis article needs further work in order to be considered complete and final. Late last week, Sony revealed that an upcoming 'day zero' patch - which is not yet available to press - will allow Pro users to choose between the checkerboard 4K mode, or else a new performance-orientated option.

This new mode redirects Pro power towards a higher frame-rate - exactly the kind of thing we've seen on the inFamous and Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Pro updates. There's no promise of 60fps in the Sony notes - merely mention of smoother frame-rates - so we will report back on what the performance mode actually delivers as soon as we can. However, we can confirm that the patch will available by the time the game launches.

The ability to choose between resolution and higher performance may well be the icing on the cake, on what is already a technologically outstanding title. However, even without the new mode, the combination of brilliant art design, great performance and a sublime 4K presentation make this the most impressive PlayStation 4 Pro title we've seen so far. But at the same time, it's clear that base hardware hasn't been left behind - Horizon is an equally impressive achievement for the standard PS4 too.

The subtitle they used on Twitter is "Horizon Zero Dawn is PS4 Pro's best 4K presentation yet."

That shows how much the PS Pro is one big bottleneck. Both PS4 and PS4 Pro frame rate dips bellow 30 fps with increase NPCs and alpha effects.

Bravo Guerrilla. People doubted you could deliver a great new I.P in a completely new genre but they knocked it out of the park. They are up there with Naughty Dog after this.

Also, more options for pro owners;

"Horizon Zero dawn will receive a small day zero patch that will build upon PlayStation 4 Pro support, adding a Performance mode which will favor SMOOTHER FRAMERATES while delivering higher visual fidelity in the 1080p mode. This mode is available for both 4K and 1080p displays."

Nice!

A 1 or 2 fps drop only ocassionaly is pretty impressive in my opinion and hardly anything to be bothered by.

For the PS Pro, I find it cringe worthy. For the PS4, I am not bothered by it.

Either way, I have the game!
