Path of Exile coming to Xbox One

They alienate the vast majjority of their userbase with these ludicrous prices, this why only a very small percentage of F2P gamers actually buy stuff. Lower more reeasonable price structures means more gamefs can justify the purchase. I mean an armour set at $45 I am never going to buy, but armour sets at $5 means I will buy multiple sets.

You can still have expensive stuff for those silly enough to buy them, like those crates.

Its the 'Whale pricing model' used in most of these type of games. Believe it or, the few people buying large price items rather than lots of people buying low price items gets them more money. I've read a few interesting articles on it.

Not surprising when people will pay $480 for the Kitava supporter pack.

But, thiis is why a combination of things is a better idea. You open the market up for more of your player base while still having ridiculously priced stuff for the idiots to buy. It's win win.

They've been around for 5 years, which for an indie studio doing a free to play game that is getting very popular, is good going. I agree that a better variety would be best for us, but I guess they have a strategy to target people willing to dish out big money thats working for them.

They have a Sale section. You might get the odd good offer in there from time to time.

I'm still amazed that they have delivered something so good without using level boosters or pay to win mechanics. If people want to pony up $500 for a support pack, let them off. I certainly won't be doing that.

I'm not buying anything, ever. I will not support this kind of mentality.

It's not a mentality. Its a business strategy. And you don't have support it either because they aren't targeting you, or me for that matter.

What I will do is play this awesome game though.

Semantics.

Semantics.

Strategy.

You're looking for value but they're giving you the entire game as that value. But they aren't targeting you or general users with the prices for their add ons. Simple as that.

Those prices are ridiculous. I hope you can get full enjoyment out this game without buying anything.

You can. It is all cosmetic stuff except for stash tabs. I would imagine stash management will get a bit tedious over time though.

You don't have to buy anything to enjoy the game to it's fullest. They target their hardcore fans with their store, the ones who aren't moving on to other games in a couple months. They feel that their dedicated supporters will keep them going and believe me they will.

I have been playing the game for the last 3 years and will be playing it for 3 more. When I look back at all the enjoyment I have had I really don't mind shelling out 100 bucks.

But the beautiful thing is you can have the exact same experience as me gameplay wise and never spend a dime.

Also they have stash tab sales every other weekend usually. So wait for those if you want more space.

24th of August is the release apparently.

Also when a league is going on like the Harbinger one is right now, you can complete challenges. After a certain amount of challenges are completed you earn a pre determined microtransaction

Yeah. Should release about 10pm our time. We are 8 hours ahead of PDT time, right?

Yeah, thats about right. its a crappy time to be released. About 1 hour to download after its available it'll be around 11pm before starting it up. And it is NOT the kind of game you only want to start at 11pm.

It might have a predownload. If you buy that over priced starter pack you can predownload.

Yeah saw that. 20 quid for some cosmetics and 200 credit on the store. I might see what 200 credit will get on the store. I would like to give these guys some money so that pack might be an idea.

Not much. If you do buy it you're likely better off buying stash tabs with it.

I assume poe.trade isn't going to be supported on consoles. Are they implementing any type of trading market for you guys?

They are. They referenced the China trading feature. I have no idea what that is or if it is anygood.

Player trading and PvP are both coming on xbox. I don't know if they will there at the start though as they are disabled for the entire beta.

Ok. Seems the China trade system is an intionally basic auction house. You can do basic searches fore item type, rarity, affixes and prefixes. But you can't seach roll numbers, which means looking through tonnes of cfap to find what you want.

It seems they did this to maintain item value, make buyouts more frequent, stop price fixing, etc.

For those that have played this game, any tips for new players going in?
Find a build online that you like that doesn't require expensive gear. Preferably one with a step by step levelling guide. It will teach you the basics and keep you from hitting a wall with your first character that is insurmountable.

Look at the wiki character and ascedency pages, see what they specalise in and get a good idea of how you want them play, then spec accordingly and stay the course.

Don't ignore defences, these should be your primary focus in the passive tree. That means life and which ever of these suit your character, evasion, energy shield, armour. There is also block and dodge.

Elemental resistances are big. You can get some on the passive tree but I got all mine from gear stats.

Don't waste currency early on by trying to roll stuff or change sockets.
