Nvidia doesn't do "mobile" versions of GPU's anymore, it's the full flat desktop GTX 1060 6GB in there.

I thought so but I wasn't sure if that applied only to the higher end versions i.e. 1070 & 1080s in laptops.
Nice. So that is a solid 1080p/60fps in pretty much every game with > high settings right?

Yes indeed sir, and that is more than I'll ever need in a laptop. At the price and specs it was a no brainer for me to get this laptop.

Just got this mic setup!

s***s getting real dudes. About to build a new PC but probably wait a bit for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, although processor has a nice deal right now already. Looking at buying the following:

Ryzen 5 1600x
Asus Rog Strix B350-F
16GB RAM G.Skill TridentZ
EVGA Supernova 750w G3
Corsair H60 CPU cooler

Already have an AMD RX480 right now so that will be good for a bit.

Not 100% on case now. Was thinking of going mid-size to downsize it a bit but really liking the Corsair 780T so might just stick with bigger case in case I go dual cards down the road.

So I didn't realize how much of a s*** show it could be with Ryzen and RAM. Seems to be completely random whether a certain motherboard would hit 3200Mhz or not even if it's on the QVL for that motherboard. That said I found G.Skill has a Flare X brand designed specifically for AMD Ryzen and seems it reviews pretty well. Also looking at ASRock's X370 Fatality Gaming X motherboard instead.

Spend mad doe on computers parts and s*** like HDR is still fooked with win 10/nVidia.

I am continuing to stay away till they get it together.

Ryzen is very picky about RAM unfortunately.

Is it only an issue with nVidia? Don't have HDR monitor right now and not sure I'll bother until maybe next year anyways. I have the RX480 right now and plan on using that for another year at least so figured if I did get a monitor I'd look at a FreeSync compatible one.

Did a little research into possible sticking with Intel and grabbing a 7700k since the price is about even or slightly less than the R7 1700x but feel like switching to AMD this time.

Bit the bullet and bought a new monitor. I had to replace my Dell U3415W due to me or my wife liquid damaging the screen some how. It still functioned but on anything but a black background you could see water stain marks behind the screen. I ended up settling for the Samsung CF791.

Dunno if AMD has this issue.

My understanding PC HDR its messy with both gpu vendors, monitor makers and windows 10.

It has begun. RAM and motherboard ordered due to sales/rebates. Grabbed G.Skill's Flare X since it is optimized for AMD, and the MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon for motherboard. And now today Ryzen stuff is on sale. 1600x only $200 so think I'll save the $100-120 and get that over the 1800x. Gaming tests are about even between the two and that's all I really do on my PCs so rather save the money now and spend it on a new GPU in the next couple of years.

Everything purchased and all will be here by Friday except the PSU on Monday. :( Wasn't planning on building it until next weekend anyways as I figured stuff from Newegg would have taken longer.

PSU came in early so got it built today. Have only tried Fallout 4 and Destiny 2 so not exactly system breakers but still nice to be able to max them out now. I have Wolfenstein 2 and Deus Ex 2 on backlog to finally get around to now.

I haven't checked component prices in a while and just looked at GPU prices. WTF? Apparently cryptocurrency mining has greatly diminished the supply.

Yeah i wouldn't buy anything anytime soon. Cryto mining has completely f***ed GPU prices.

Yeah its really not a good time to buy GPUs. If you can even find them in stock, they're priced 3 to 4 times the msrp.

I'm glad I'm not in the market for a new GPU (I bought the 1080 in 2016). However, I was considering upgrading my MB/CPU/RAM. Even RAM prices are sky high. Terrible.

I completely understand. My nephew and I were going to try to build a console equivalent pc to have hooked up in the living room. Turned out with the way prices are right now its more efficient to just get a PS4 pro or XBX.

I just finally built a new computer after wanting a new one for years.

The one I just replaced was 10 years old. Core 2 Duo, 4GB DDR2 800mhz etc etc.

Now I have I5-8400, 16GB DDR4 2666mhz, 960 evo M.2 SSD with........

on-board graphics

Ridiculous performance for everyday stuff, but I would like to drop a GPU into this and every day I see cryptocurrency has taken a dive I dream of it's complete collapse so we can get GPU's at MSRP.

Crazy that GPU's are selling at more than 2x their MSRP, AND THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK!!!! just seems wrong.

I'm not sure what to do to be honest, just wait it out but I can't do games for how long.

I am waiting on 2 parts. I put pics of a tower a while back and never touched it for a while because of my duty was called.

Now I have this crappy setup which I stream but soon it will be complete by the end of March.

Here is the Crapper!

If you get desperate ebay might be your best bet. If you don't mind pre-owned or referbs.

Finally, my chip came in. I was just sitting on this for a while but I am lucky I get this because the price just jumped. The main board is an MSI 970 and that is now up in price.

I am not going to do PC gaming on this. I am using this for streaming and video and art.

Im curious as to why you would go with that extremely old, power hungry CPU vs say a Ryzen 4 core 8 thread which would be faster? Cost?

Welp, after only about 3 years my Corsair K70 keyboard died, does not light up does not respond in any machine i plug it into. Replace it with the much cheaper but 98% just as good, K68 keyboard.
