This is on sale on XBL for people with gold accounts right now for $30 so I picked it up on my One X, probably won't be starting it for a while but your pics make me look forward to playing it.

Nice dude! I hear it looks even more badass on Xbox one X :)... I really love the game. I'm soon on my third playtrough!

Yeah, the dungeons look much better than the overworld. I wish the game had better HDR settings...

Just gotta hold out hope that they move to a different engine if they do a sequel.

It does make the game look dramatically better than it does without it though, mostly in caves/dungeons. It looks kinda messed up outdoors.

Yeah, Unity isn't so great for full blown 3d games, imo. It just can't compete with UE4...

AC Origins is a weird graphical showpiece. I mean the lighting is really nice, environments really good, but the characters look so dated to me. Like last Gen assets in 4k.

In screenshots it all looks great. But on my TV, the characters really stand out in a bad way compared to Sony and even Microsoft's best.

I don't know how you can say that with a straight face. Random people look generic, but they are sporting more polys than a last gen and have some level of cloth sim. The main characters look fantastic. The main thing reducing the effect is how far back the camera is typically pulled.

When I first played it the HDR settings weren't accessible for some reason. It definitely makes a difference for the environments.

The characters just look a little flat. Imo

I'm not playing it in HDR, but I kind of think Syndicate and Unity had better looking NPC models, especially for cutscenes.

I think that has to do with the clothing styles, though. The models (npcs, the leads look amazing) definitely look lower poly in Unity, but to be fair, there are a LOT more of them. I really want a patch for Unity. The lack of HDR is really obvious when jumping between the two.

How do you get pictures of Assassins Creed Origins? I've literally looked EVERYWHERE on my Xbox One X and can't find the pictures I took.....
You have to take the screenshot using the system feature, as far as I know. When you take the photo In game, I don't know where it goes on UBI's end. They may have a database, or maybe it's in the game, I'm not sure.

The way they set up the photo mode makes no sense, you can find the pic you've taken on the map if you look for it but there is no photo album and it doesn't save to your xbox one share folder. You have to wait for the grid to disappear (which mine has stopped doing) and take the pic the standard way you do it on the console.

As far as the character models, the main ones look good up close IMO, the NPC's look fine but nothing special. I also think there are certain moments where Bayek's facial animation is really good during cut scenes, the voice actor does an awesome job and it all just matches up really well. I toggle the beard on but keep the hair short, I think he looks best that way.

The average NPC has a surprising level of detail outside of the general blandness (which I'm starting to think is intentional to make the main character stand out more). They are very smooth- tough to spot any polygonal edges. The faces have great detail if you can get a close enough look at 'em. Very good for the numbers they can get, and they don't look ridiculous next to the more detailed mains.
