What movies have you seen recently?

Three Billboards - Pretty good. Alot funnier han I had expected.

Black Panther - Eh! I wasn't all that impressed. I'd give it 5/10 at best.

Murder on the Orient Express: Decent

Based on an Agathie Christie novel published in 1934, this movie proves that the story stands the test of time. It is not super complex or packed with action though. It feels more like a stage drama more than a feature film. However, it was an interesting plot. I hope they make more films featuring the main character, Detective Hercule Poirot, as played by Kenneth Branaugh (who also directed the film).

Have you watched the older Poirot tv series? They're still brilliant.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but someone said they've changed the killer from the book/original? Don't tell me!

I've always prefered prefered the Marple series too. Geraldine McEwan is simply divine, and the amount of British celebs that pop up in the episodes is surprising! The Body in the Library and At Bertrems Hotel are two of my favs, largely due to Joanna Lumley'' killer comedic timing.

Thor: Ragnarok
Loved it, a little heavy on the humor but was still a great movie.

Just saw Annihilation, pretty visually dope flick that delves deep metaphorically, that seems to trip and leave ya blue balled. There were moments that shocked and scared people whilst others laughed.

On my new scale of ratings, from 1-4, it’s a three.

1-stay away (meh) 2-stream it if you get a chance (it’s ok/aight) 3-would recommend a theater showing (its good) 4-watch it now while the interest is fresh (its great)

Watched my copy of Dunkirk 4K last night on my new 75” 4K set. That film blew us away watching it at home. There’re some amazing looking scenes in this film. My sound bar did a pretty good job, but I would love to see this again with a big sound system. In the XD theater the sound beat in your chest.

Any recommendations on 4K movies worth purchasing even if I already own it on Blu Ray? I looked through the list of films and I already own a lot of them. I could always trade in my Blu Ray copies I have a couple stores in my area that do that.

i rent 4k movies and bought a few too, not many of them have wow'ed me like dunkirk. dark knight and dark knight rises IMAX scenes were spectacular but other times it didnt look that sharp. Mad max 4k was pretty sweet

but movies like john wick 2, suicide squad, logan... i dont think they look that much better than normal blu ray

The Dark Knight is leaps beyond. Anything shot 4K, and higher, will see a dramatic increase. HDR furthers the gap. Look at real or fake 4K for the specs on most releases.

So how good are digital copies of Ultra HD movies? I was looking at what Vudu had. They have new Thor for $20 and Justice League for $20. Do this digital versions look as good as the 4K disc?

Murder on the Orient Express - Eh! Figured it out before Poirot. The movie just kind of ambles along with no ups or down, or even a climax really. It isn't that it is bad per se, just forgettable.
