I don't know how reliable this is because it's VGChartz but it's pretty interesting if it's close to accurate.

The XBox One X is almost mirroring the 360. Makes you think that branding is more powerful than we realize. This forum kind of shows that. If you're an "Xbox guy" at a certain point, an "XBox guy" you'll stay. Good stuff.

It's not really "branding" exactly, because that makes it sound like people are buying it simply because of the brand. It's about being plugged into that ecosystem, with friends on XBL, liking the controller, having all your games on that system, etc.

Many jumped ship in 2013, so although there is "ecosystem loyalty," let's say, it's not impervious. Gamers, especially the core types, are willing to shift consoles if the reasons are there. And of course, many pick up second consoles as the generation wears on. So what was primary may become secondary, or vice versa.

p.s. As for this forum, most of the PS4 guys left years ago. I think there's only like 6 to 8 of us left.

Hasn't posted since September. In the political Topic so could have gone underground to avoid the bombs

They are pretty accurate...even MS quoted them.
But the picture isn't always painted the way xbox fanboys like so they try to discredit them.

This news seems positive so maybe they are legit today lol.

This is my favorite time of this thread.

Val lies about Microsoft and VGChartz
Gets pointed out how wrong he is (they never quoted their sales)
Trolls about it
Comes backs 6 months later to do it again

Whoa! This is almost bigger news than "Sun rises." You gotta put a spoiler warning in there for us.

The best part is the spinning that posters like yourself do.
MS has quoted them...sales or not it shows them being credible.
PS3 is shown to beat the 360 so now they aren't reliable(to fanboys and now MS LOL ) when yet if one does some searching of there own they will see vgchartz is one of the most accurate (give or take some here and there) to official numbers.

What happened here? We were having an intelligent discussion, and now we're arguing about VG Chartz?

Oh. That explains the deja vu.

VG Chartz can give reasonably accurate estimates of hardware numbers if you give them a year or two to adjust their estimates based on real-world data. They are not reliable when it comes to current or recent estimates.

However, that VG graph isn't anything controversial. It's accurate in the broad sense if not in the particulars. It's pretty well agreed upon that Xbox 360 and Xbox One sales have been tracking along with each other fairly closely this whole generation.

NPDMEASAP

https://www.resetera.com/threads/ma...tuesday-april-17th.34348/page-18#post-6991240

The relative sales volumes of game hardware was:

PS4: 1.15
Switch: 1
XBox One: 0.97
3DS: 0.43

YoY

PS4: -9%
Switch: -66%
XBox One: +24%
3DS: +19%

Sales for the month:

Switch: 308k
PS4: 354k (308*1.15)
Xbox: 299k (308*0.97)

These are the results.

By SKU, the top selling title was Far Cry 5 for PS4, followed by the same title for Xbox One. Kirby Star Allies (Nintendo) for the Switch took third place. By games, the top two titles in the month were Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 and Sony's (SNE) MLB: The Show, but combined, the two generated less revenue than last year's Zelda.

Xbox on pace for its best year ever, with strong growth (up over 37% this quarter compared to last year). Demand for PS4 still high even at 299, with lots of room for price drops. Switch continues to perform nicely. All 3 consoles are selling well. No losers.

Fortnite is the biggest driver of sales for Xbox and PS4.

New Entry 1 God of War

GoW up 35% from GoW3 from just physical

Yakuza had a series best by 300 units

Well if there's any takers. I will bet my account gow debuts to sub gow3 numbers in the USA. Anyone can take me up on it.

Hey, Yakuza placed in the Top 10, even with God of War releasing and Far Cry 5 still going strong. That's something. It'll probably drop off the list next week, though.

Woo hoo! 300 copies! lol

I see SoT is out of the Top 10. PUBG still there, though.

NPD comes out in a few days (Tuesday, I think). Hopefully we'll get some numbers.

I'm feeling pretty confident since it significantly underperformed both Uncharted and Horizon. Was that a take?

God of War is the best selling game of 2018 on Amazon US, not just for PS4 but for all video games so it's doing really well here. I know some are trying to downplay it's numbers in the UK by comparing it to UC4 and Horizon, GOW was only on the market for a day or two of tracking, the other two games had longer tracking periods. You also couldn't pre-order it on Amazon UK for several months and that wasn't sorted out until launch day.
