Sony 900E (DF pick)

Maybe it's just me not being all that sensitive to input lag but I put my X930 to standard mode when playing on the Pro and One X and I have no problem at all playing Injustice 2 on either console or SF5, DBFZ on the Pro, it's supposed to be around 88ms for the "4K" signal the consoles are sending outside of game mode. Maybe if you are one of those tournament guys who can count frames it is something you'd notice but I don't notice any delay between a button press and what's happening on screen. I'll have to check it out playing online and see if the additional latency that introduces makes it more noticeable.

Edge Lit to Edge Lit you will be blown away.
900F is a better overall set with better blacks and screen uniformity.
If the above isn't a issue you are good enjoy.

Now you can join my search for Dolby Vision products :)
Got my eye on Apple 4K TV and the upcoming Panasonic UHDBR Player.

Sadly I think the Dolby Vision update has messed up the TV, I noticed during cut scenes in Injustice 2 there is a ton of screen noise, I looked it up and others have had this issue after the update as well. Happens on both the One X and Pro versions of the game.

I am now officially a Sony Pony. I have me a Sony 65" 900E

Cool, I got that same set. At least I think it's the same set. I bought mine in November of last year. Maybe you've got a newer model, I'm not sure. The only issue I've had with mine was with an update Sony pushed out, which screwed up the TV (discussed earlier in the thread). If you've got a newer model, you might not have to contend with that issue.

Anyhow, enjoy. It's a very nice TV. I like that it is DF-approved. They know more than me.

Thanks Andy. Well when I got it out of the box and set it up, I was prompted for an update, which I did. Though I have no idea what the update version is. I assume if I went to settings there is probably an "ABOUT" where I could find the version I was given. As far as the same TV, I don't see why it would be any different than yours if they are both 900E. I think the "E" is the year. Like the previous year was D?

I was going to get a 75", but for my little condo, it would have been overkill. Not to mention, going with 65" instead of 75" saved me literally $1000.00.

Oh, that's what the E stands for... lol. I had no idea. Ok, so we have the same model.

As far as the update goes, well, if when you switch from watching TV to an HDR-enabled game on the PS4 Pro, and your TV goes blank and gives you the red light, then you've got the update issue. It only happens with the Pro, not the X. I talked a little about the fix earlier in the thread, although I didn't explain it very well. Let me know if you have the issue and need me to explain it better. There's also a thread at Resetera discussing it:

No, I read what you have. I haven't had that issue "yet" at least. What I do is I use the INPUT button on the top left corner of the remote to go to my PS4, and I am playing GT Sport at the moment. When I go back to TV, I hit the TV button down near the middle of the remote to take me direct to the TV. It's once of the buttons that complete a circle. It hasn't thrown me a fit, but I hope it doesn't start! :)

I set up the IR blaster for the soundbar and the cable box, but sadly it's not a great feature because:

1. It doesn't power down either device, only changes the channel and does guide for cable box, and only changes volume for sound bar
2. I can't record/fast forward/rewind DVR stuff with the remote for the cable box.

It's too bad because I really like the guide (maybe it's a google guide?) for the TV instead of the one that comes with my Spectrum cable box which must date back to the 90s.

VERY QUICK Google search says powering on/off cable boxes are unlikely. I have a Harmony One remote that I have been using for 10 years, and I thought it would be cool to use the new remote included, especially for that nice guide. I guess I will have to resort back to my Harmony. I have been thinking of a reason to get a new Harmony after all these years. I think I might just go buy a new one.

Ok, good. Let's hope you aren't affected. It made me pretty frustrated for a while, until (with others' help) we found a workaround.

My patience would have been worse. I would have just turned off HDR until further notice :)

Also go to app notifications and disable ALL of them.

If you do all of the above things are smooth as butter if you don't no bitching about the UI.

I did that at first, but I couldn't take the downgrade in color range/vibrancy. I was re-playing Horizon at the time, and the difference was very noticeable. I had to find a way to preserve HDR.

They are supposedly distributing a patch to fix the earlier patch, although I haven't gotten that yet...

What I thought was cool that I never tried before (didn't know it existed) was in Gear of War 4, you can do split screen HDR. Half the screen is in HDR, the other half is not. OMG the difference is night and day. I couldn't see being without it!

Just as an FYI, I bought my 900E at Best Buy. The TV came with a 1 year warranty. Once that 1 year warranty expires, American Express covers the TV for an additional year (up to a 10,000 value). That is a perk that is included with any American Express card holder. I just found this out. If for what ever reason your TV dies in that 2nd year, you just submit the problem and your receipt to American Express and they cover it.

I wish I had used my AMEX when I bought my Vizio, because it would have been 100% covered :(

Got the new update today. I haven't checked it out yet, but hopefully all is well.

Edit: All is well. I can play HDR content in Game mode again, no problems.
Amazon Prime video wasn't working before, but now it's fixed, too.

Update notes:

  • Improves general performance of the TV
  • Improves performance when starting content from the PS4™ Pro gaming console
  • Improves performance for Amazon Prime® video playback

In the market for a new TV. Want to get a 75" but OLED 75" are almost 10k! Was debating between Samsung QLED, Sony 930 series and the 2018 Vizio P series. Want to stay under $4000. Probably will go with Vizio just because I've heard good things about it and I can use the extra money for all the other audio/devices I want.

Nope, DO NOT GET VIZIO. The quality is ass. Literally. Let me repeat in case you missed it. DO NOT GET VIZIO. I bought a Vizio 4K HDR 70" a year and a half a go, and it died. Best Buy and Vizio would do nothing because it was beyond a year for warranty. I went to the forums, and people's same TV's are all dying within the 2 year time.

But if you want to piss your money into the wind, go for it.

The remote control on my 900e is starting to mess up already...I feared this would happen since I have to use the Action and Home menu several times a day...I have the stock batteries in there though,I will try and get 2 good Duracels to put in there, hopefully that's the problem and not the actual buttons not responding.

Yeah, just change the batteries. I've had to do that already. I don't think it's the remote itself. Or at least it wasn't for me.
