I wouldn't put much stock in "current bestseller" lists at amazon. They are based on hourly data, not on cumulative numbers over any length of time -- so they will shift around a lot, depending on when you check. They're just a snapshot at one point in time, and not very reliable as an indicator of anything except how things looked when you happened to look.

For instance, does anyone believe that the Xbox One X is outselling the S and all forms of the PS4?
 
Amazon isn't even selling Playstation (Sonys) products still. Not even the store gift cards. Which really sucks for anyone that wants to buy Detroit on there.

Yeah and if you look up the PS4 or the standard Pro they are only being sold by 3rd parties on Amazon right now, amazon themselves doesn't have either one in stock. Not sure what's going on between Sony and Amazon.

Yeah you could tell God of War as moving some consoles, the standard PS4 was sold out on Amazon in the US for a few days and the Pro was at a much higher position than it usually is, actually there were two different PS4 Pro models doing well for the entire time that the standard PS4 was out of stock.

Still negotiating terms of the contract, I guess. There's a lot of money at stake. I hope they sort it out quickly. Prime gives nice discounts on new games, and I always buy my Store credits there.

I buy all my games on PSN/XBL digital, so I have never have been able to take advantage of my prime account for games. :(
 
As much as I hate physical copies of games, I definitely grab the Prime deal for new releases. $48 for new releases (or you can get the "deluxe" version for basically regular price) is too good to pass up for a lot of games.

Wasn’t there more purchased Zelda BoTW for Switch then there were Switch’s on the market? I was one of them, didn’t find one I wanted until November whilst the game I had day one :p

I think they are selling through their pre-orders though. My copy of Detroit is shipping tomorrow.

Hyrule Warriors' debut was ... ok. Mixed opinions on whether that did well or not.

Labo is #25. That is pretty clearly tanking.

Sea of Thieves is #26. After a strong debut, it seems to have dropped down the charts pretty quickly. Not unexpected.

PUBG is #15. Seems to be holding steady in that range.

Yeah, you don't see that everyday -- more copies sold than consoles.
 
I see PS cards there and some PS4 games, but not others -- noteably, no Detroit and God of War only through third parties.

Like I keep saying, it's a near-worthless stat. It changes hour by hour. It's not cumulative. It's just a snapshot in time. I don't know why anyone bothers to quote it. It tells you nothing besides how things look when you looked. It's like looking at the stock market on a Tuesday at 2pm, then trying to draw conclusions. It tells you next to nothing. People laugh at VG Chartz, but VG Chartz is a lot more reliable than that.

You're not getting it.

He's not "lying." He's just checking at a different time. The stat is updated hourly. If he checks at 11 am, and you check at 6 pm, you'll see two different things.

This is my point. Any stat that is based on "How are things doing this hour?" is not going to tell you much of anything.

I went back and checked, and it's pretty much what he said:

1. Switch
2. Xbox One X
3. PS4 Slim

Doesn't seem like lying to me.

I'm not sure about this "updated hourly" stat. I was assuming it was just hour by hour, but it's pretty consistent. Maybe it's "updated hourly" over the space of a day? Or a week? I have no idea.

Someone would have to track the stat for a couple weeks, to figure out what timeframe seems to be involved. I don't have the interest or patience for that.

Anyhow, it's clear that amazon and Sony are having some problems, so nothing re. amazon and Sony is going to be reliable right now.

I personally think it's a semi-worthless statistic in general (though I'm not sure, because no one seems to know what time period it is reporting), but now that it's a bone of contention, I'm sure it'll continue to get quoted. :txbrolleyes:

I don't blame you. He's also not attending to his own links, or else he'd see they are saying the same thing you are. I also don't like his low-effort posting style. He posts just a single link and leaves it to others to figure out what he's trying to say.

I'm tired of the conversation, too, but the least you could do is actually post what you're seeing instead of just leaving links and making others do the work (finding out it's just the same as Hedon says anyhow).

Focus on console order, which is what he reported. What are you seeing?
