Microsoft At E3 2018

WB Games will host another livestream this year. Should be announced within the next week or so. Here's some details of what to expect from them at E3:

WB Montreal:

Superman

> Reveal set for Microsoft's Presser
> Takes some inspiration from the animated movie Superman Unbound
> Been developed by a team at the studio since 2014
> Due out for October this year. This is WB's tentpole release

WB Montreal is also working on a Batman and Robin game, but that won't be coming until next year. The game originally started as a successor to the Arkham franchise starring Damian Wayne, but higher ups decided it was best to stick with the franchise.

Rocksteady:

NEW IP

> Reveal set for Microsoft's Presser
> Fantasy-based
> Takes some inspiration from franchises like The Witcher
> Multiplayer/Co-op
> Should be coming Spring 2019, but don't be surprised at a delay.

Rocksteady's game looks pretty amazing. I won't spoil the rest for you, but that's it.

Superman and BM and Robin? Does it get any better than that? Yo! Bring it!

Wait? Has there EVER been a good Superman game? Ever? !

Nah, you can temper expectations without being a persistent downer.... well.. maybe YOU can't ;)

Tempered expectations went out the window last year. So no, I can't...and wont do it for all you sensitive people either. Don't like it then put me ignore, but don't tell me how to express myself.

I missed the Superman part. Now that is a super hero game I could get behind. I have never played a Superman game before, ever.

Well, I assume they see it as realism, not negativism.

I get the feeling that a lot of the optimism (about E3 anyhow) has been sucked out of Xbox fans over the past 2 or 3 years. I think there's a kind of guardedness about it -- "let's not get our hopes up." I don't blame them. I think it's only because I'm coming into this Xboptimism (?) fresh that I have a relatively easy time getting my hopes up.

There’s this. There’s also a better understanding of where Microsoft has been the past few years. It’s like finding out your baseball team with aging vets had a crappy farm system with no good prospects coming up anytime soon because the owner was operating on junior league budget. Even if the owner says he’ll start spending more money if future offseasons, you know the team is limited short term.

I have low expectations for the short term but am hopeful for the long term with Microsoft. Meanwhile I do think we’re poised for one of the best stretches 3rd parties have had since 2007/2008. Taking a wider view, it’s a good time to own either a PlayStation or Xbox.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the Xbox One reveal. Which is a reminder that, no matter how bad things may look now, they could be worse.

Can’t believe we almost forgot. You know what that means? Mattrick meme time!

And of course,

I would post more, but I know we've already had a conversation about not rehashing 2013 again, and I don't want to annoy people too much, so I'll refrain. Anyone who wants a refresher on what a disaster that was:

MS has come a long way since then. They've still got a ways to go, but things are a lot better than they were 5 years ago, that's for sure.

I’d say the 5 year anniversary is an appropriate time to have fun with it. Ding dong the witch is dead!

Perspective never hurts.

There was one last-gen that I enjoyed. I would have said it was good, just about.

They got the flying right in that game but that was about it :) I liked the PS2 game based on the animated show, it was pretty decent.

Microsoft May Unify Xbox Game Pass And Xbox Live Gold After E3 2018

Microsoft’s two big services on the Xbox One right now, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold might be merged into a single one, according to rumors. The company is committed to their plans of making both services bigger and better, so such unification makes sense and might cause the Xbox One to get a big boost in subscriptions.

The news comes from Generacion Xbox, which reported that some new job openings at Microsoft may hint towards a unification of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold. Specifically, two of these offers request candidates to enhance the marketing area of Xbox Game Pass and secondly to Xbox Live Gold.

Based on these openings, it is deduced that it is the Xbox Game Pass team that may absorb the candidate to indirectly help Xbox Live Gold.

Both services, have their own subscriber base, each one taking advantage of what they deem more important on the console.

Xbox Live Gold is the service a player must subscribe to if they want to be able to play online. Apart from that though, the subscriber gets a few games for free each month through Xbox Games With Gold and exclusive deals and discounts in the store.

Xbox Game Pass, on the other hand, offers subscribers a must more laid down and casual experience. For as fas as you subscribe, you get access to a library of more than 100 titles ranging from indie games to huge exclusive franchises like Gears of War.

Having those two under one roof not only makes it easier for users to monitor their payments but they also get the best of both worlds in one price (which will be higher if that happens).

The same source reveals that Microsoft has news to share with fans at this year’s E3 2018 regarding Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold so cross fingers and let’s hope that this rumor actually gets confirmed.

This will be big for gamers if they hit a sweet spot...if this comes true.

This is one of the final pieces to Microsoft’s long term puzzle I can’t figure out. To merge console and other devices, Microsoft can’t have the console be the worst value long term. They also don’t want to lose that online subscription money. If GamePass in the end game, then merging the cost with XBL before bringing it to PC makes sense.

I’ll be one of those who said “they should’ve done that since the beginning” but I guess they’re taking a play from Amazon when they merged Anime Strike into Prime/video

Even if there was a combo offer, I imagine they'd still offer multiple packages, to accommodate people who only wanted XBL or GP.

If the price goes up for live then they will lose my sub

Yup, mine will be gone too. If there is a MP game that I want to play, I can get a month of XBL and play it. Otherwise, I would be fine with Silver going forward. I don''t want any Gamepass, I don't want the monthly free games. I just like having the gold discount and the online multiplayer available if/when I need it. But I am not paying for even more.

I agree. Wondering if they’ll offer that option to PC users.

I’m probably in the minority but I don’t hate having a yearly Gold fee as long as Microsoft keeps Xbox Live closed, keeps adding new features and can curate cheaters. What I don’t think will sit well is Xbox gamers having to pay $180 for Game Pass and Gold while PC users pay $120 for the same service eventually while opening up the flood gates for cheaters. I understand PC gamers don’t think they should pay and it’s fine if they want to stay on the free cheat-bot infested PC servers then. I’m hoping the bundled fee is a way to cover forcing PC gamers to play along with the same standards and chip in for the expense that will justify continued improvement of these services. Console gamers should continue to have a choice though.

I don't know about the PC issue, but I'm sure they won't charge Xbox users $180/yr for the combo platter. They're going to have to bring the price down a lot lower than that, in order to make it at all attractive. People aren't going to pay $180/yr. for Live plus a limited rental service.
