Blizzard Told To...Make More Games

Heroes of the Storm is an awesome game.

But I can't help but think resources are being diverted to their Battle Royale effort so I'm OK with this.

I guess Activision isn't going to leave them to there own devices anymore. To much activison interference might hurt blizzard.

Okay.... cut costs AND ship more games... so indie budget games or what does this mean?
Maybe they will outsource to China or India, as they did with Diablo Immortal.

Trump will not be pleased....
These has been going on for a long time. The big tech either import software engineers from india/ Philippines etc and/ outsourcing work to them.
My software engineers Indian friends said silicon valley will continue to hire Indians as they are better than Americans ( their words not mine). You can interpret how you want, I didn’t follow up. I was just a listener.

In a separate discussion, I ask causally what make India such a haven for outsourcing. He said ( from my memory) they are faster, while cost 1/3 the price or something.

In my opinion ( which has nothing to do with politics) to be complying for companies to stay in US or any develop western nation, you have to have combination of lower cost of non-wages operations (as we can’t compete on wages) as well as improve quality of the workforce.

I work in a multi national corporation and I understand how we need to be much better to justified development in my location instead of cheaper locations, and I can see the advantages we have in quality are shrinking fast compare to Eastern Europe and Far East, that continue to impress me.

I was joking.

They do seem to take a while between big releases...
Games taking long time is not an issue if the time is well spend. RDR2 took a long time, but you can see the time is well spend to create the vast open world, and translated to an incredible game.

Many time, game took too long due to mismanagement or lack of direction in art direction etc like Duke Nukem forever.

I think the vast open world in RDR is a good example of time not well spent. It it mostly a barron land that doesn't enhance the experience, if anything, it actually makes the experience worse due to long, boring traversing time.

Incredible game doesn't always directly translate to big profits. The problem is what makes more profit? A game that takes 5 years to make and wins GOTY or some shovel-ware mobile game with a ton of microtransactions? Sadly I think the whole Diablo 4 debacle shows which direction they are leaning.

While RDR2 is selling great and will continue to do so, they still will rely on microtransactions down the line. The cost for making that game had to be huge, and that's the part as gamers we don't see or even really care about, but the people funding these games do.

Fair point. I am not a fan of the long traveling time between locations. I meant to say is you can see how the game will take this long to make, as the world is big.

Sad but true. Flappy bird is great example.
