I can get behind most of those.

The list is fair except best audio def not Zelda and the best indie def wasn't Friday the 13th. Good news is Persona 5 won 3rd place. Horizon Zero Dawn won 2nd place.

Wow, I agree with all of that. Well, except Best Indie should've gone to Cuphead. And best VR game is going to be Skyrim.

So you don’t agree with all of that then.

While RE7 is deserving, I have to say Skyrim is unbelievable in VR. Best console version by miles and miles. I would say playing this on a ps1 to ps4 is less of a difference than the jump to VR, especially after you learn the Move controllers, which takes time. The graphics take a hit in places, but the crazy high framerate makes up for it.

Cuphead!

No twitchy side shooter in history compares to it. Not a game with complex controls and such, but pure style and smooth gameplay. Heck, even running the game for the first time and seeing that quirky intro of singers is hilarious.

Finally bought it and got through maybe half hours worth of dying and got stumped at the big Sunflower Boss.... for now.

For me, the only two drawbacks are loading times, and the default button config is awful. I remapped the entire controller set up.

Time getting it right...

Nah. Edith Finch #3 and Wolfenstein #4, and Horizon is #9? And no sign of Nier, Divinity, Hellblade, Yakuza 0, or anything else? Pffft.

Skryim VR is the most amazing gaming experience I've had in years, so it will probably take Horizon's spot as my GOTY, although I'm not far enough along to say for sure. Horizon is a wonderful game, but I never expected to play Skyrim (my GOTG, last gen) in VR. I am not watching Skyrim on a TV -- I'm in it; I'm there. It's been a happy surprise, to discover that VR actually works as advertised, that I have little problem with motion sickness, and that I can enjoy one of my favorite open-world RPGs from the inside. Gaming experience of the year, that's for sure.

That good huh? I'm pondering between getting a Switch or a One X but you've almost sold me on VR, Andy. Sounds like we're about to hit another golden age of gaming between all these good games and nice hardware out.

Yup, that good. Don't just take my word for it, though -- read through the Resetera thread. You'll see dozens and dozens of people saying the same thing. "A completely new experience," "game-changer," "best gaming experience of my life," "a revelation," "a true killer app for VR," etc., etc.

It's something else, being in Skyrim. Watching the snow fall, looking out over an abyss, skulking through caverns, shooting flames from your hands, battling dragons, getting all Harvey Weinstein with the bar maids, or just wandering the countryside. It's a trip. It just fundamentally changes how you experience the game.

Would be funny if they made Killzone VR. Haters were mad when PS fans said they felt like they were on the battlefield cause the graphics were so good. Being on the actual battlefield in VR? Get the tissues ready.
