VattiVidya has just released a full-length gameplay video for Salt and Sanctuary, the 2D RPG that is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita by Ska Studios, and it looks pretty awesome.

The video features around 13 minutes of gameplay that feels “legitimately feels like a 2D Souls game,” or so the narrator of the video claims. The upcoming game does indeed seem to have much of the dark feel that the Souls games are known for, and the attacks, blocks, parries, and healing mechanisms of the game also seem to be similar.

As of right now, Salt and Sanctuary does not have a conclusive release date, but it should be out sometime this year.

Not sure when exactly its releasing but the ETA is sometime in 2015...
Hopefully this has length I am talking 30+ hours and I am not to sure how the multi-player works but I do know player messages are in the game.

Looks really neat. Don't have time to play it now but I'll put it on the list.

It kinda gives me a Castlevania feel from the NES but with a Souls skin slapped on it. I like it!

Very good reviews so far. Metacritic average is 86, based on 5 reviews.

Last paragraph from Destructoid's review (85):

"It's difficult to be disappointed by a great studio taking solid mechanics and narrative beats from one of the best studios around, especially when the result is something as well-crafted as Salt and Sanctuary. While I do wish Ska Studio's latest had more of its own identity, I can't deny that I enjoyed every minute of it. I already spent about 25 hours with it, and I'm salivating, eager to go through New Game +."

Is that game really that good? It looks like the Dishwasher with a gothic makeover.

Just to dust this old thread off, the game is truly outstanding. Metroidvania meets Souls in a very great way. My personal indie game of the year by a mile.

To bad it’s 2D. Have zero interest in that. Looks good otherwise.
