I would've added this to the bunch:

English teenager Peter Clatworthy made some very bad decisions during an Xbox One auction on eBay, paying £450 (USD$735) and not even getting a console. He got a picture of a console.

Wow... #3 is really lame... it covers the IR blaster in BOTH positions, so you're really better off just unplugging the thing and removing it entirely. Spending the $20 would kill things like instant sign-in, control of your living room components and the TV box, and anything else that required the Active IR stream.

...but hey, I think it's pretty cool. I might try to sell my "Day One" custom block box that housed the purdy White box they gave all of us... but I'd never sell the unit itself. It's priceless.

It's cruel that people are doing this, but seriously anyone who buys the box for $300-$400 thinking it's the real thing when the title clearly says it's not deserves to have Christmas ruined.

I should sell my day one box and my day one achievement for some cash.

I'm thinking about trying to sell a picture of a picture of an X1. I'll be reasonable - $250.

I dunno - it's kind of inspired in a way. I don't think my wife would respond to well to me dating, nor would the opposite sex for that matter, but I think it would be really funny to try something like: "Look, I was going to try to buy you dinner and then sleep with you, but how about I give you a picture of a steak and you give me a picture of your boobs?"

Funny being the key word obviously, not successful.

I should sell one box with a picture of a X1 box on all four sides.

You better hope it's not a noob ebay user who accidentally thought he got a steal on an X1 and found later it didn't come with an X1 system. 3 things can happen to you. 1) Charge back via CC, 2) Negative Feedback 3) Both #1 and #2 and no X1 Box Only return back to you.

19 years old, (though looks middle age) & his son is 4 years old. Do your maths.

That, along with the article, is all quite depressing.

What is it about our society that causes these things, exactly..
I feel rather left out.

LOL@buying achievements. That is like buying trophy at a yard sale, except even worse

And now he got his full refund back AND a free Xbox courtesy of some tech firm in the UK, and the ad even stated that it was for a photo not the console. Stupidity wins the day!

Yeah phenomenal he's a moron and gets a full refund and a X1 WTF!?

Look at the guys face and the reason he said "I brought it for my 4 year old" and now tell me there's any way he orchestrated that?

I've learned two things in life: never underestimate the possibility that someone is an idiot, but never blindly assume someone is blindingly stupid when there may be other explanations. I doubt it's orchestrated and it's more a joke than a serious possibility anyhow, though.
