$500 million divorce, Bungie and Activision to go their own ways...

So, now that Bungie self publishing Destiny’s future that means no more year long wait for obsolete dlc for PC and Xbox, the community can’t even have a conversation with each other upon release.

Hopefully Bungie goes back to the way the wanted dlc to be free or eventually be free, like with halo 2/3, dono bout reach, where you could buy the dlc maps or wait for them to be free in like three months... hell there were even sponsors for map packs.

Well maybe eventually but I assume whatever deal Sony had it place would still be in place.

The console exclusive content was all on Bungie long before Activision came around unfortunately. D1 still had PS exclusive content that didn't get released on Xbox until after D2 came out.

I don't think there will be free DLC either. I think that season passes will be done and they'll just go back to the traditional pay for DLC model.

For destiny 2 I believe Sony still has first dibs, but maybe there’s some clause that now allows destiny 3 to do so, since technically that contract has been voided/altered.

They, Luke Smith, said....

We're thinking about what it means to be truly independent, what it means to self-publish, and crucially, what Destiny's future can now look like for our players.

D2 being delayed meant they needed more resources dedicated to it, not less. Bungie said that they did it for that reason, but I doubt they ever wanted to do ROI. You can tell it was very slapped together, even more so than their other content.

Don't underestimate how much power the people over on the destinythegame subreddit have. They are the reason we have this awful content drip. Bungie listens to those people (they just had another meet and greet with the Youtube streamers about the game). Unfortunately those people rarely understand the larger issues and just think right now, which is why the game is in such a bad spot.

The point is, Destiny gamers might have to accept a long drought of no content in order to make a new game happen.
They have no power. If you think the content drip is because of them then you haven't been payinh attention.

Did Bungie say the exclusives are going away?
Being i started on PC i miss some of the exotics i have on PS4.

They just had a bunch of streamers out to Bungie's studios yet again. Maybe just a PR piece? Then why do they barely talk about it other than a little Twitter chatter?

It wasn't long ago the streamers were all going to jump ship to other games.

Now, the streamers love the game, because a content drip is perfect for a guy that monetizes Destiny videos. The bad PVP meta is awful for most of us, but great for them.
