All Things 4K/Blu-ray Thread

Can't wait for Disney to get around to announce a 4k HDR bluray of Moana and Zootopia.

When I got home yesterday my wife and kids were watching it on Netflix. It looked amazing even on that.

That's how I ended up watching the last 3rd of the movie( Haven't seen the first 2/3 of the movie). I kept saying to myself, I'm going out to buy the 4K bluray tomorrow. And low and behold Disney doesn't do 4K blurays with animation, with the exception of Coco.

I feel animation is really where 4k and hdr can shine and Disney/Pixar really could corner the market with their films.

There’s no way studios are going to dump their whole back catalogue all at once.
I want Breaking Bad in 4K.

Don’t get me wrong I have a decent list of films on my wishlist I want to buy, I was just a little disappointed in the number of available films I want. Also it sucks because I have a huge collection of Blu Rays already and from what I read a lot of 4K films are not that big of a jump in quality. There are some I will re-purchase in 4K that are favorites of mine.

I’m looking forward to more and more UHD streaming content on Netflix and Prime. Both do have some shows available now that I want to watch when I have time.

Any word when cable or satellite making the 4K jump? My cable looks decent on my new set especially sports. Some HD channels actually look worse on my 4K set than my other big HDTV. I noticed it the other night watching Ghe Walking Dead on the AMC channel.

I'd love to see Rogue One and Force Awakens in 4k. I bought Last Jedi in it but those movies have some even more epic scenes for 4k.

I'm still pretty slow to get onto 4k movies. Unless it is something really amazing visually like Star Wars or Blade Runner, I'm fine with BluRay quality.

I don't have 4K yet but have been buying the combo versions for now since the pricing isn't much different. I probably won't bother with regular Blu-ray only since I'll most likely go 4K later this year. I recently picked up Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, and Dunkirk from the Best Buy sale.

Matrix reloaded/Revolution, Avengers/Age of Ultron coming to 4k apparently

Tomb raider coming June 12th

Saving private Ryan 4k got 5/5 from HD digest

I don't know if I could handle Saving Private Ryan in 4k. That movie still makes me lose it.

I've still got to watch all the Batman movies in 4k.

I hate that I own most of the movies I want to get in 4K already on Blu Ray. I watched my copy of Saving Private Ryan recently and it looked great even on Blu Ray.

Just picked up Interstellar, Inception, and Pacific Rim UHD in preparation for my new TCL 6 series. I would kill for Speed Racer in UHD format.

You getting the 65”? I’m upgrading to a 65” LG OLED this year. I’m hearing the TCL 6 series is performing better than LCDs from Samsung and Sony and for a fraction of the price, pretty impressive.

Yeah I re-watched all the Avenger movies before Infinity War and even on Blu Ray they look great. I'm not going crazy re-buying movies in 4k. Only a select few. The difference is nice but not that great.

Depends, Dark Knight, Rises, Dunkirk, Pacific Rim, Guardians 2, Justice League, Westworld and a few others are a big upgrade over the other versions

Yeah the 65". I'm jealy of your OLED but it's out of my price range.

BTW, Target has 20% off (additional 5% off for Red Card holders) tons of UHD, including many pre-orders. Gonna snag A Quiet Place, Ready Player One, and possibly The Matrix.

Dark Knight Trilogy 4K on sale on Amazon for $54. That is very tempting even though I already own them on Blu Ray. They worth the upgrade?

Yep. Begins is a so so upgrade but the other 2 look great.

Matrix is also worth the jump
