AMD Ryzen 7 detail video

Nice. I'll definitely need to update my computer at some point and most likely will be an AMD this time around. Current PC is an Intel and only Intel I've ever owned. Don't have a problem with it, hell it's lasted me 6 1/2 years at this point, but gotta give some love to AMD again especially with the way this is shaping up. Will still be a while before I build/buy if lazy, but I may be more interested in seeing their quad core offerings.

Yep, been eyeing this for a long, long time. I think I am going to go with the 1700X, 16GB of DDR4 and the ASUS Crosshair VI Hero mobo.

I'm glad to see Ryzen come out swinging like this. It seems like forever since AMD was competitive with Intel.

Do you guys think they'll eventually come out with lower-end CPU's based on these that would compete with i5's and i3's?

I'm possibly building a new HTPC in the next few weeks but might wait if AMD has more coming within the next couple months.

Yes, there is Ryzen 3 and 5 scheduled to come as well later this year. Ryzen 5 is a 6 core 12 thread part, and then Ryzen 3 is either 4 core 8 thread or 4 core 4 thread.

Unless hidden in the article somewhere, last I read the 4 and 6 core processors were listed as second half 2017 sometime. They do list pricing though.

I am glad to see AMD doing well with this. I picked up a desktop with one of the AMD Athlon 64s not long after they were released (I think only HP offered customizable ones at the time and I didn't think I wanted to try building a box then), and loved it. Intel really stepped it up with the Core 2 Duo and until recently, they were rocking it pretty hard, but I think the industry needs AMD to be able to push them for all of us to benefit.

Yea I had an Athlon 64 and she was a beast at the time.
