Another supposed PS5 spec leak

Oh yeah I get it, Kinect was VERY front loaded and PSVR has been more of a slow but steady product, the thing is the next version of it will end up being more expensive than what's being sold now and it'll just cost too much to include in a box with a console unless it's a separate bundle, that's not something you'd include with every PS5. Sony learned about bad pricing with the PS3 which is my only worry about them next gen, I don't want them to think that they have to stick to $399 if it means not including enough memory to take advantage of what the GPU can do etc.

VR isn't for everyone, some people still get sick, some just don't have the space in their gaming area for the set up , some would rather play games the way they always have etc. VR and those types of things have a place in gaming but VR doesn't belong in every gamers home.

The key to working in the PSVR with PS5 is staying with the current headset. The lenses are good enough when you supersample images for now. Improve everything around, the tracking etc. THEN come out with a new headset in a few years.

Nope, VR isn't for everyone, but that's anything really. From my personal experience, only about 15% of gamers have actually tried it along with a proper setup. Play space isn't super important as most games all you need is a bit more than an arm length in all directions and 70% of the games are DS4 couch friendly. Motion sickness will always be a thing, but there is evidence that increasing fps to 120fps is very helpful, along with technology in development that will eliminate it further. Also, VR legs is a real thing.

I think once Valve shows off their new direction in VR, it will really boom. Their main gaming focus has just shifted to VR and they have 3 mainline games in development. That's huge, along with wireless headsets now being available. It'll never be in every home, or even close, but in 5 years it'll be huge imo. I expect 40 million active VR headsets by then at least across PC and console.

It won’t matter, much, if PSVR is bundle with the PS5 if, and only if, there’s two SKUs at launch. One, just the console and the other as a bundle, maybe saving like $50 bucks then instead of buying it separately.

But if only theee were to be a bundle then they’d just be repeating what MS did with Kinect, it woulda been neat but in this case VR isn’t much of a worth while investment.

Why include something that's going to need to be replaced in a couple of years anyway? If they release a bundle that includes it for a higher price that's one thing, factoring PSVR into every console's price point and reducing the quality in other parts of the machine that will matter to far more customers makes no sense. I really don't think VR will take off in a big way on consoles until they can do it wirelessly and even then it won't be the majority of players, yeah VR enthusiasts like it and that's great I'm all for you guys having that option but including it in every box is a big mistake. Again I don't even think they are considering doing that but just going by what this most likely fake "leak" says it just doesn't make sense.

Yeah the leaks aren't making sense to me with this over the top psvr focus but just for conversation sake.

I hope they do support PSVR 1 even with a new HMD in development.

I mean the thing works on more powerful PC's. I don't see the need to just dump it altogether in favor a headset.

PSV will be Compatible with PSVR/PSVR V2, But some features won't be available.

Yeah sony would be completely stupid to ignore the 4 million PSVR1 users right now that buy a ton of games, forcing them to buy a new headset and a new system is bonkers. PSVR1 on PS5 will feel like a massive upgrade by itself.

There will probably be some sort of adapter you’d have to buy for it to work, or and app...but here’s hoping not

Like wireless

It would be possible to make PSVR1 wireless I think like the new Vive adapters, but you would have a 2 foot cord dangling behind you. Still better than a 8-foot cord hooked to the breakout box.

It could be but.. Wireless will be one of the PSVR 2 selling points.

I wouldn't be so sure about the PSVR2 being wireless.

The combination of cost and latency are super important for Sony regarding their next HMD. Both point towards there being a chord.

The Vive wireless adapter costs $300 dollars and has a charge that lasts between 60 and 120 minutes. Prices do come down but how quickly and how much?

Not sure if a $400 PSVR2 is going to have that technology built in in a few years.

Unless they can produce next gen VR headsets for a hunded bucks cost theres no chance in h@ll of it bundled with PS5.
Don't get me wrong, I had one and loved it and Im going to get another, I just understand its a fairly niche product and many people arent interested in using one,

If I had to guess I'd say it's wired out of the box but Sony offers a wireless add on you have to buy.
Isn't that what the leak states basically (that the wireless box is coming "later")? At any rate, I hope it's all true and both of these consoles are beasts. Was really encouraged with the RTX 2060 only being $349 right now as I expect the GPU in the PSV and XB2 to be similar but likely better spec(similar in that they will support hardward raytracing and do it well). Was pretty impressed with the CES demo from Nvidia and it kind of made me sad that nobody is using them on the console side (but they don't have a viable APU framework currently).

I also think folks are interested. I think $199 is the sweet spot but we won't see that with wireless for several years. For battery life, they need to design a backpack device that you can add varying size rechargeable batteries to (maybe up to max 4 hours or something). That might defer some of that cost for folks that don't care about having the longest battery life. I think $249 for wired and $349 for wireless would sell to the enthusiast crowd but not sure what pricing will be in 1.5 years time. I see deals on PSVR stuff all the time on CL/Letgo, etc. (like $100-149 for headset alone or sometimes with camera; $200 with full hardware (camera+move)...and have been tempted to get but my wife would flip as advisory is that children under 12 shouldn't use it and my son is only 9 (and he's a gaming nut so don't even want to have that fight). He'll be almost 12 after the 2020 holiday so just going to wait for PSV/XB2 and the VR offerings they come up with.

The sentiment for VR has changed drastically in a short time. You couldn't even mention VR outside of dedicated VR threads on forums without getting blasted off the forum with negative comments, now its moved into the threshold of acceptable or praised by the majority of... gamers? Yeah, it's that way now. Bring on wireless, lighter headsets, and better tracking and we in here.

VR is a gimmick, a fad, dead and cheesy.

@TUM_APISAK (H/T) took to Twitter to share details of the APU they claim will power the PlayStation 5 – and it’s a next-gen AMD chip currently codenamed ‘Gonzalo’.

Deciphering the code, we learn that the PS5’s chip will feature eight CPU cores as on the PS4 Pro, but these CPUs will likely be based on the next-generation AMD Zen 2 architecture – or at worst get an upgrade to the company’s incremental Zen+ update.
