Simply, I finally have a smartphone now. Probably just in time to have some new device come along.

It's no secret that 98% of mobile games suck. Paid or not, if anyone knows about any of quality, I'm listening. I'd like to use this thing for more than just further annoying people on skype.

Try out Fallout Shelter if you have an iPhone. Let me know how it is.

Neptune's Pride 2

Here's the premise...

Everyone starts with a small number of planets. Some planets produce ships at a specific rate (which can be altered using upgrades). In the beginning everyone sends their ships out to capture neutral planets until you have a map that looks like the above picture. Then you use your alliances (which should already be formed) to take each other out, until there is only one winner.

Here's the catch. Sending ships from one planet, to another planet takes an INCREDIBLY LONG TIME. If you look at the above picture, many planets are so close together they're overlapping. It might take 2 - 4 hours to get to adjacent planets like that. Planets that are a few inches away? That'll take 12, 14, maybe 16 hours depending on the specific distance.

It's a real time strategy game so your game is always on and they last for weeks. So throughout the day, you pop open the game on your phone, check where your allies ships are headed, check where your enemies ships are headed, and get to messing with alliances, turning enemies into friends etc...

It's super simple, an amazing concept, so if that sounds fun to you I suggest you try it out.

I would but it's an android.

So much crap to sift through..nearly seems a lost cause. I'd do kotor if only this thing could run it. Only game I'd have immediately said yes to.

I bought a game last night called Leo's Fortune. Cool little platformer with crazy good production values for a $5 game.

It looks like Rayman type graphics with some Little Big Planet type physics based puzzles.

If its a Windows phone there are a ton of decent games out there under Microsoft Studios.

Jetpack Joyride
Wordament
Alphajax
2048
0h h1
Soduku
Microsoft Solitaire
Fruit Ninja

I dunno, I've only got a couple games on my phone. Dead Pixel, for while I'm on the s***ter and Crossy Road (think a never ending game of Frogger, sort of), because my daughter made me download it.

Maybe I'll get final fantasy. at least thats a one time purchase right?

what do people even use these things for? pff, who calls or texts or uses the internet anymore

Mobile gaming has become the bane of the gaming industry. The most popular games are freemium. South Park describes it best...

If you're itching for American football, that Joe Montana game is coming out at some point.... (no NFL license).

Vainglory is legitimately awesome. Super well designed all around.

It's only weakness is that it encourages teamwork with no real ability to converse with your team unless you and two others are in the same room.

Scratch that. It has two weaknesses. There are 16 characters, 6 of which I would deem female characters. I think that's a bit too many.

Oh and it's free on Android and iOS.

For offline games:
Geometry wars 3 is a fun twin stick shooter that looks pretty and runs well.
Rayman fiesta run is a side scrolling running game with tons of levels and a great presentation.
Monument valley is a fun puzzle game, but its really short - keep in on your wishlist and buy it for $0.99 when it goes on sale (which is often)
Knights of pen and paper (part 1, not 2) if you want a RPG-lite

Why? Not trying to make a thing out of this, but I'm genuinely curious why you consider it a bad thing and how many females would be appropriate for 16 member roster.

I think 4 at most would be appropriate. 3 would be ideal.

I just believe woman suck at fighting/war and I think 97% of the Vainglory population is male.

Tommy,

I've really enjoyed the original Plants vs. Zombies and Kingdom Rush. They are both well made.
