I'm wondering about the Borderlands and the Game of Thrones franchises. Has anyone played the first games in the series? Are they any good?

Telltale has a long and well received track record. So the actual gameplay and storytelling shouldn't be too much of a biggie. I think what it really depends on is how interested you are in Game of Thrones or Borderlands and whether you'd like some new story material to go with the main lore. So that's all on you when it's said and done.

The first chapter of the Game of Thrones game was really good. And this is someone who doesn't watch the show or read the books.

I didn't like Telltale's work until The Walking Dead. I loved that, especially the first season, but I wasn't too thrilled with Wolf Among Us. So it's been hit & miss for me. I also wonder if I'm tired of what seems to be their new formula (or maybe they're switching things up with these games, I don't know).

I'm not a big fan of Borderlands -- it's okay for what it is, but it's not really my taste. I don't watch GoT and haven't read the books, so I don't know about those. I just ran out of things to play and was curious what people who'd played these games thought.

That's good to hear you liked it, since you're in the same position as I am and was wondering about that angle -- whether someone who hadn't read/seen GoT might enjoy the game anyhow.

As someone that use to watch game of thrones I did enjoy the game very much, but would recommend seeing the first 3 seasons of Game of Thrones before playing the game, as there are at least one major spoiler there.

I did enjoy tales from the Borderlands , then again I have enjoyed all of the other Borderland games.

Picked up the Borderlands one. I'm enjoying it so far. I didn't want to have GoT spoiled for me, and also I'm a little tired of the medieval sword stuff, after so much time in Dragon Age. The Borderlands game seems to have a good sense of humor, which I appreciate.

You should try out their Back to the Future series. It's all done and while I only played episode 1, it was awesome and great for any BTTF fan. Sam & Max is also their shining sword in my opinion. Great humor and gameplay. I've been meaning to play Puzzle Agent, which I hear is pretty awesome. Got it on my Steam and ready to install.

I did try Back to the Future, along with Jurassic Park, and Sam & Max. They were okay, but they were done in a more traditional adventure style, with lots of time spent wandering around, trying to piece clues together, figure out who you need to talk to or whatever, in order to progress the story. I never got into the BttF movies, so that might've been an impediment, too. I prefer the style they evolved into with The Walking Dead. I could see some of that in Jurassic Park.

Played a little more of the Borderlands episode today. I'm really impressed at the storytelling, the way they weave the two perspectives in and out, along with the "unreliable narrator" thing. They do a good job of it. Very entertaining. I also like the additions to gameplay (e.g., the eye scan device) and the more rambunctious tone than the other games. It's good stuff so far.
