3 days in UVGF and I love it. We have fabulous modding, layout is cool, new people are encouraging. So good.

That said, I'm wondering if I should buy any forum browsing apps like Tapatalk. Even with snappy iPhone 5 it takes time and data to stream in all the layouts of UVGF on mobile, so if there's one I can use, I'm buying it right away.

No, we're not. It's not stable so I'm not gonna pursue Taptalk. The mobile versions of the site work really well. If you want to speed it up look through some of the other themes. Some load a tiny bit slower than others.

The forum scales really well, but with apps things tend to become really data-effective and fast. That is what I liked so much about xda-developers and its app. Doesn't look good, but is fast and don't have to worry about bleeding data. I can see other priorities, but hope to see this added to the list of possibilities.

If your data conscious on mobile, your better off watching what browser you use. Chrome is very content heavy for example. Try Opera as it limits better for mobiles or if you want something very light , Duck Duck Go uses next to nothing in terms of data as it doesn't cache anything (or so I believe)
All a mobile app is doing is putting a content wrapper on what you're being served.
