Assassin's Creed Origins

I can't get this game anymore, didn't anyone do their research? Hippo's can't swim, they sort of walk along the bottom and hop up but they can't actually swim :p

Clearly I'm kidding I am going to get this game for sure but the hippo thing is funny to me.

Whatever they do, they don't f*ck around.

I love the idea of them diversifying the game for multiple playstyles.

It took me years to appreciate the stealth elements to the game (I just found them frustrating. Same as Splinter Cell and MGS), but after giving it a chance, I learnt to finally love it.

Which makes me worry about them actively wanting to make it more action based. We'll see if they find a balance in offering the freedom. Why sneak when you can just slash everyone in sight?

Come through, Deus Ex realness!

Its because they force you to play to certain way. If you compare that to something like Far Cry 3 where you go about things however you wish, it mkes stealth feel more organic and rewarding. Or something like Sniper Warrior never feels as satisfying as getting a 500yard siper kill in BF1...that is the case for me atleast.

So in this new AC those stealth kills are going to be more rewarding and I would think harder to pull off thanks to stealth not being the main or only way of playing.

I really like the little touches like the flags and overhanging cloth interacting with the character. It's also nice to see the particles reacting to the light and shadows.

This looks fantastic! I love the Action RPG angle (though AC has been slowly heading this way for a while). I hope they make exploration pay off as well. Super excited for this one :D

Egyptian Hippos in 3000 BC could swim, because the Templars taught them to. #AbstergoIsDutchForHippoWaders

When Witcher 3 gets patched, I hope they retexture the water. One of the few ugly things in that game. It looks gelatinous.

My biggest hope is that they add HDR, the game is already beautiful but I think that'll help take it to another level. I thought the water looked pretty good for the most part but you are right, at times it can look a bit strange.

Seriously... He's obviously in one of their media rooms, and he deliberately set the camera at an angle that exposes how much of a dump the Montreal office actually is.

I'm sure the building itself is nice enough, if it were treated well, but you can tell by the way they've styled the place/present themselves that it's two kegs of beer away from being a frat-pad.

A clothes rack hanging in a random passage? Pinning a fabric stop-repeat backdrop to the wall with thumb tacks... You just KNOW there are finger prints ALL OVER those glass doors. Can you imagine what their staff fridge looks like? You can basically smell some of the week old egg-salad that some dude named Chad left behind, but he'd never admit that. He'd be all like "Nah Bro. I'm carb loading this week, you should ask Anton, y'know what he's like!" And then he'd change the subject to cross-fit and how much he can bench press, because that's all he talks about.

And yay for being inspired by Black flag! I will miss the grapple thing from syndicate.

Edit: and this guy interviews really well. He's obviously pretty passionate about the game, and he doesn't say "ummm.." continuously, like a lot of the game developers. He just needs to get his Body-english up a notch.

And sandstorms? Can't wait to see those, as long as they don't use it to make it cheap for ranged attacks. If bandits have perfect aim during a storm, that'll be infuriating.

Night time gameplay!

Lookin' gooood! I can't wait to try the new fighting system. I also like how you can't see through walls as easily as well. Every time I think I am done with the series, I get pulled back in!

I really liked Ass Creed 1&2 but skipped Brotherhood and Revelations, Loved Ass Creed 3, Black Flag, and Unity, but skipped Syndicate. I am ready for Origins!

Damn, Open world overload incomming!!!

Syndicate was great, I almost skipped it because Unity was such a let down but I'm glad I didn't. I have to say for a series as big in scope as AC is they really have kept the quality pretty high, especially for a series that was on an annualized release schedule for so long.

I loved Syndicate. I liked the dlc of the game involving Jack the Ripper.

Go get it now! If not, sooner!

The grappling hook completely changed the gameplay! Get ittttt!!

Also, the chick protagonist is the second best female in the entire series! She's a saucy, saucy girl!

there's a new gameplay video up on YouTube, shows a side mission, I would post it but don't know how too

Most impressive part of this game so far seems to be the depth. I really like that NPCs don't stand around in one place always waiting for you. Hope the AI in combat situations is good. #1 thing that lost my attention and desire to do side stuff in Horizon was the lame NPCs. I like the depth to the side missions along with what they've shown of the combat. Like the verticality and options to tackle the action. Developer said all the right things about combat. Hope it works well in practice.
