Avengers Infinity War

Strange told Stark about what was going to happen, right? BC Stark seemed somewhat at peace when everyone started dusting around him.

yep, since he went ahead and looked at all the out comes and really only needed to see one to know what to do for a winning outcome. Just like him dying all those times at the end of his own movie.

I think for some reason when Thanos snapped his fingers, he briefly saw Gamora again inside the Soul Stone.

Maybe like in the original story, The Soul Stone is where Thanos is vulnerable and that is something Dr. Strange saw.

I also think there could be crazy consequences to letting Thanos become a God. He would then come to the attention of the weird cosmic God beings in Marvel.

I'd also kinda like to see this dig into Thanos' death fixation. He didn't just sterilize half the Universe or umm..... turn half the Universe gay or something to slow down the advance of the population. His complaint about limited resources seems dumb when he has unlimited power himself. He could double the resources instead of killing half of everyone.

I still have Dr Strange, Spider-Man, Thor 3, and Guardians 2 to watch yet. Maybe by the time I get around to those the second part of Infinity Wars will be out and I can just watch them back to back.

Dead and probably now in charge of hell.

Or it will be undone with some time travel

Avengers Infinity War, AKA Green Screen the movie - I feel like you could force terrorists to watch this movie on loop and most of them would tell you what you wanted to know halfway through the second showing. It's one part The Big Bang Theory episode and three parts YouTube Nascar crash highlight video.

Bazinga.

What a joke.

After them setting up their movie verse for years the movie was an entertaining payoff. Brolin was great as Thanos and probably one of my favorite villains since Ledger’s Joker. As Blockbuster films go it was great.

I thought it was soulless. A film designed around the phrase "market research".

All the action scenes were (predictably) nuetered because nothing of consequence ever happens to anyone in these Marvel movies. "Let's just have our characters throw each other through walls the entire movie and not have anyone realize that throwing your opponent never hurts him but rather gives them the ability to regroup for a bit. Our audience won't mind that."

The writing is Big Bang Theory crossed with WWE level bad. No interesting dialogue. No characterization. Everything is focused on setting up these cringe inducing quips and it doesn't matter when. There's sassy quips during downtime, sassy quips right before a fight, sassy quips after a fight, and oh yes, sassy quips during a fight. The movie is busting at the seems with all these sassy quips, which comes at the expense of any real character development.

The plot is just "Bad guy needs to get his hands on something to give him the power to hurt a lot of people". This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't the exact same plot of all the other 423 Marvel movies released in the last 3 years, my God.

A perfect example of the films awfulness comes at the end when half the character turn to ash. This is supposed to be a gutwrenching scene and, because Marvel never actually developed any of the characters there's zero emotional weight behind any of it. Call me crazy but when main characters pass away, you should feel at least a little something right?

But then again market research suggests it's better to not have your audience leave the theatre feeling any negative emotion or they'll subconsciously be less inclined to see the next film where all the characters come back because nothing of consequence ever happens in these movies.

Oh and there's way too much green screen bull**** in that movie.

I actually kind of agree with The Sunset Limited. I think he has valid criticisms of this comic book movie trend.

I have mixed feelings on it because it pushes some nostalgia buttons well and I enjoy much of the art of it. They did manage to keep some of this reminiscent of the old Marvel comics I read a long time ago.

I think the Loki character arc is nonense. He was the bad guy in the first Avengers and now turns against Thanos. WTF is going on with that?

Nobody can really figure out what to do with the Hulk as a character. I can imagine Ruffalo has fun doing that, but feels there is so much missed potential with him. I think it would be so cool if Pre-Hulk Banner could cameo in Captain Marvel.

It's hard though to fully judge this until the next movie Endgame or even Captain Marvel come out to. For that reason, I hold off a little bit on the complaint of character development as that may happen more with Iron Man as he's been the flagship hero for most of this thing. Iron Man has a mixed history and has made hard choices including some bad ones. I feel like the first 2 Avengers and Iron Man 3 have forshadowing for him.

Where I'll kind of agree is Marvel plays it safe. The characters dusting away was kind of weak. I think they should have all stayed there and just turned deathly pale or something.

One thing to say about the last Hulk movie is how Blonsky took a direct hit from a Hulk punch. I think it would be great if Thanos smashed and crippled Captain America. Now yeah, he's got the Supersoldier thing and he could heal up, but still show a hero taking an hard hit.

I think it was weird how the character who took the hardest hit was missing from most of the action as The Vision who barely got to do anything. He deserved a better fight.

Something else that comes to mind is so many villains just being death obsessed maniacs. It's hard to avoid getting simplistic with it and boiling it down to a mass generic army for heroes to battle and display their cool powers. It can seem like it's all just a few degrees from The Power Rangers minions or monsters.

I don't totally hate on this movie, but it does kind of deserve to be nitpicked. I'm hoping this comic book Marvel movie machine is still evolving and after getting the massive cash from this and I think possibly Secret Wars if they keep going, they might feel comfortable to start experimenting or taking some risks.

I'm going to disagree because I don't see Thanos as a villain. Hella was a villain. Thanos is more nuanced, more a noir character than an out an out villain.

Kind of a different take on the Western genre. John C. Reilly is wonderful but you can't take the film seriously because of him. The rest of the cast is excellent and they try to balance the film towards a darker tone. The plot is a bit thin as well, and the core plot point fizzled at the end, but I did like that it was atypical for the genre.

Excellent attention to detail in costume and set design, and the music was quite beautiful. Worth a watch for Western fans.
It may have been atypical but that doesn't make it worth a watch. I found it to be boring and not memorable at all. It seemed rushed, poorly written, and felt incomplete.

i mean... his mission was to wipe out half the living things in the universe, his reasons were understandable but the way he goes about it makes him a villain to me

Nah...look at how he interacts with people. Calling Thanos a Villain is a big injustice to the character. Even the Gommora scene shows him to be far more than the black & white sterotype the villain word slaps on him.

According to Google a villain is...

"(in a film, novel, or play) a character whose evil actions or motives are important to the plot."

Is mass genocide evil? I think that's pretty debatable...

Ignoring the sarcasm. All actions in the right context are debateable. Murder is bad, murder to protect yourself or others is judged eifferently. Hitler's Genocide of the Jews was evil, but Thanos's goal isn't to wipe out a species, it is to save all species the fate of his homeworld.

Yes ,I realize compareing Thanos and Hitler is weird.

Well I guess there are no villains because all actions, including mass genocide are now debatable. Villains rejoice!

Thanos is an idiot. He could have made half the universe become infertile or gay or something to drastically reduce the population.

Or made so many uninhabitable planets suitable for life by space colonization when they outgrow their home worlds.

It's so bad Fortnite did a whole theme for it celebrating the movie

Also not a big fan of the Marvel films but hasn't developed characters? Been doing it for over 18 films so clearly talking nonsense.

Fortnite is mechanic based. It has no plot.

A movie with the plot revolving around a glove that has "power stones" is incredibly dumb.

Also, if the 18 films had anything other than quips for dialogue I'd agree, but alas. The ash scene had zero emotional weight behind it.

That just makes him a good villain. Villains don't have to be unthinking or unsympathetic monsters.

Honestly, I like thanos, he's probably correct in his motivation. Looking at him in infinity war and it's hard for me to not wish him winning against most of the avengers tbh.
Only really cared about the guardians, hulk and thor, rest can die and I couldn't care less lol

I agree...but they usually are. Hence the stereotype aspect of that post.

Lumping him in with Hella, Joker, Bane, etc just doesn't work for me. The fact a debate is dven taking place shows that.
