Backwards Compatibility

Just for my own peace of mind, I asked on Resetera whether all original Xbox BC games will play at native 1920p (near 4K) on the X. The answer was yes. I also saw several references to the same idea. So that's good enough for me.

I heard Morrowind is out tomorrow. I look forward to 480p vs. 1920p comparison videos.

It is. Microsoft’s BC team is officially their best development team this gen.

Xbox is selecting some really good titles for BC. I wouldn't be surprised within a year we have 200 or more of the very best Xbox and 360 games running at near 4k with better frame rates. Pretty amazing.

Conker is another one not to sleep on. It will look like a modern game with the update too.

Conker in 4K will look better than Super Luckys Tale.
 
I'm really pumped about Republic Commando coming up. That game ran like complete crap because it was too ambitious for the Xbox, it'll be crazy to see the improvement.

Really cool. Had to have been mind blowing in 2008 when the game released. Can’t believe I quit the game before experiencing those moments.

Azurik in near-4K, that would be something.

Here is my list of oldies that I'd be interested in replaying:
  • Morrowind
  • Jade Empire
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Fable
  • Fable 2
  • Half Life 2
  • Beyond Good & Evil
  • RTCW (loved the MP, but the SP was good, too)
  • Halo, duh; guess the MC collection version would be better?
  • Max Payne
  • Max Payne 2
  • Deathrow (tho my fingers might not be able to take it)
  • Arx Fatalis
  • Burnout 3
  • Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Some of those are probably already available or soon to be. Some will probably never come (e.g., Arx Fatalis, Dreamfall), but I'm guessing the majority will be available eventually.

I know they also have the Orange Box too, but it was unbelievable they got Half Life 2 running on the regular Xbox. The framerate was pretty bad in spots but I remember people being very surprised by the port.

After playing Skyrim on PSVR at 60fps, it was a transformative experience in an Elder Scrolls game I must say.

Nice. Good to see MS finally putting out some great SP games. :wink:

Changed my avatar and tagline back in honor. Some may remember, I had a Morrowind avatar for most of my time at TXB.

Great game. Probably my all time favorite. At least one of the top three.

The intro and main theme still give me chills.

I was thinking the same thing when I caught a glimpse at Dno69's pic. If it were to be released I hope that would me we'd see a reboot of Azurik similar to God of War, seriously...may go cypber punk whilst keeping a sci-fantasy approach like star wars and destiny, only darker and grittier.

Will be buying Conkers, Panzer Dragoon, Jade Empire and Breakdown today. BC backlog is growing.

Yup, supposedly Morrowind unlocks at 9 a.m. pacific, which would be about half an hour ago. Looking forward to the impressions of people brave enough to play through again. People playing it for the first time are in for a shock.

Yeah Gears 3 got the 4K treatment a while back, looks really good. Hit me up if ya wanna co-op the campaign.
