Conker hasn't looked more crisp that I can remember.

leaving discs on the table like that...

Nice to see my stack of old games is getting a second lease.
However I could've sworn I saw jedi outcast was on the list, but I go back to check and only jedi academy is there. Am I crazy, did I have a stroke, or was it never there? Though Academy will still do.

Looks sharp. I enjoyed Breakdown. Can't remember much of it now, but I enjoyed it.

More Releasing next week I think

Got a fraud alert from my bank due to buying so many BC games in addition to Hellblade today. I’m actually hopeful of a gaming drought after God of War and SOD2.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Here is my list of oldies that I'd be interested in replaying: [....]

I checked the list, and the only ones currently unavailable are Max Payne 1 & 2, Buffy, Dreamfall, Arx, and Deathrow. I don't expect the last three to get BC treatment (too niche), but they need to bring Max Payne and Buffy. Max Payne 2 was the best-paced game I had ever played to that point, and although I was never a fan of the series, the first Buffy game was a lot of fun.

Even in 1080p I see a huge difference.

I'm watching on a 900p monitor, so I never really know what things will actually look like on a 4K TV. But I can tell, even with nostalgia glasses, that this looks cleaner and sharper than the original game. I think the before/after vids showcase it best.

I agree with him, I love that it tells you, after a brief intro, "Ok, you're on your own now," and just lets you go. The feeling of freedom... You just don't get that in RPGs or open-world games anymore. I would love to explore that world again, though I know what a time-sink it is. I'll have to wait until there is a lull in this-generation games before I can commit months of my gaming time to Morrowind again. But seeing it up and running in enhanced resolution is a treat.

That combat. People playing for the first time are going to be WTF. Oh, and that journal. What a mess that was... But still, the game has all kinds of charms that counterbalance those issues. Once you get into it, the game is incredibly immersive.

Just played a few minutes of Chrimson Skies.... am I the only one who noticed the leads name is Nathan, and he's wise crackin' Indiana Jones/Han Solo type? This had to have been inspiration for Nathan Drake...

I remember why I gave up on this game. Even back then the framerate was terrible in combat and in cities on Xbox.

Yeah, spell effects would make it tank.

lol at that combat. You know you're a badass when your sword goes whoosh whoosh whoosh and there is no sense of impact. Good ol' dice rolls. At least Bethesda has upped their game a little since then. For my money, Bethesda puts out the most immersive RPGs around, but fun, impactful combat has never been their strong suit. As you can see here.

For some Godforsaken reason I want Medal of Honor 2010 rereleased. I loved that game and am missing it. I thought it had an excellent single player campaign and fun multiplayer. Not enough maps but fun nonetheless.

This is the comparison I was waiting for. Digital Foundry on BC Morrowind.

Apart from the blurry textures in close range, looks like a great improvement.

  • 480p to near 4K resolution; 16x boost
  • Stuttery framerate to reasonably stable 60 fps
  • Much faster load times

"The Xbox One backwards compatibility programme has thrown up plenty of surprises so far, but this one really is quite remarkable - Microsoft's enhanced version of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind is one of the best examples of the boost to image quality and performance."

Very nice. One of my favorite games of all time gets "one of the best examples of boost to image quality and performance."

When I was trying to decide between getting an Xbox or Playstation I went with the Xbox because they had a Buffy game. I bought a used Xbox on Ebay that came with Buffy, Halo, Splinter Cell, Morrowind, a racing game I can't remember and a couple of other games, I think Hunter the Reckoning was one of them. This was a gift for my husband for his birthday. We all fought over who was going to play all the time because they were all such great games. We had had an Atari years earlier but having a couple of kids we fell out of gaming for awhile and we couldn't believe how far the graphics had come since our Atari days.

And now I'm playing Morrowind on my Xbox One and having that to compare to the Elderscrolls online's Morrowind I, again, can't believe how far they've come. My husband also loved Max Payne 1 & 2 but Buffy was one of our favorites. I really do hope it ends up being on the list. Also had the Indiana Jones game that was made by the same studio that made Buffy and hope that comes too. The second Buffy game was fun but the first Xbox exclusive one was better.

Hah, yeah I loved Buffy. What a fun game. You're right, the sequel wasn't half as good. It wasn't by The Collective (developer of the first game).

I remember the first Buffy game having a pretty serious cult following on TXB. Even a decade later, you'd still hear people fondly recalling it. It was a really great combination of characters, setting, story, and combat. Good stuff.

I liked that Indiana Jones game, too, although it was pretty buggy.

Good luck with Morrowind! I loved that one as well. It's very different than the recent games, not just visually but in terms of how it's designed.

Oh Buffy still looks so good! Really hoping we get that one!!

Bad news. I was just talking over at Resetera, and they say that EA no longer owns the license, and that means the game is probably not going to get the BC treatment. Apparently, anything that makes obtaining the license remotely tricky will kill the chances of a game coming to the program. :really:
