Battlefield 4 running on X1 ... and PS4

PS4 looks washed out, X1 looks jaggy when there are many objects. But otherwise, they really look the same.

Agreed - to me - overall lighting and better "color" vs PS4 (IMHO) -

Overall - excited for both systems ... now very interested to see if the other games are similar in nature/presentation - or if there will truly shine a difference between the 2 platforms on other games (COD, AC4, NFS)?

This seems like an accurate description of what I saw.

I'd also say either the Xb1 version has better texture filtering, because some textures are clearer OR it is missing a lighting effect which gives the PS4 version a slight haze to it. I think it's the later to be perfectly honest.

As far as AA, PS4 gets the nod for sure. But it's not a huge difference, more of a slight tip of the hat.

All in all, the difference is almost negligible. There is no 50% power difference being shown in this clip.

The game looks great. Day One.
There are 50% more pixels being pushed at the same framerate as XB1 version. D:

Is it just me or is the X1 showing better colors and textures? and PS4/PC looking washed out...I thought the X1 would be the washed out version

at the end of the video look at the doors. The X1 textures looks clearer. The colors look washed out because the X1 is crushing blacks like it did with the 360 and that's not a good thing. It hides detail in dark areas when that happens.

Okay. Using this pic, Xbox One version looks better. Am I going crazy here?

Look at the textures on the guy to the left, the PS4 version is muddy as hell.

That is what it looks like to me but then again why does the PC vid look so washed out and less defind also. Something just seems off.

With the PC....it is probably something with the settings. You can CLEARLY see the superior textures. That being said...the XB1 version holds up pretty damn good.
Which is what people who played both prior to this said all along.

Anyone else a bit bummed that the game isn't a solid 60 fps? I really wish they'd have delayed it a few months, there really wasn't a need to rush this out at launch IMO. I don't get where people are saying the X1 looks better here either, it's missing effects, has more aliasing and is at a lower resolution, the textures aren't better either but everyone can have their own opinion.

They've got the POWAAAAAA! Oh wait......no they don't :D

Maybe you missed it but one version is pushing close to 50% more pixels than the other but otherwise looks the same. The denial in this thread is hilarious! Looks like an "upscaler" and more black crush are the new secret sauce!

Yeah saw that, overall though the X1 is looking pretty good, nothing like the doom and gloom that people said was going to happen..interesting to see if JF was right about MP looking better than SP...that would just complete the weirdness.

yeah noticed the aliasing, but for being 720p upscaled it is looking impressive. holding up well next to 900p upscaled.

Is the aliasing something that can be fixed intime? or is it due to immature drivers or esram bottlenecks or something like that?

don't know. maybe simply lack of horsepower.

something the "resolution don't matter boys" don't seem to realize is that higher resolution acts as a natural AA.

It's all good I don't have either console pre ordered so might just go with PC gaming for a while. Let things settle down and see what happens down the road.:)

Did you watch the video, in fact it's PS4 version that is missing some effects. Or if I haven't been paying too close attention, both have effects others don't.

PS3 tended to have muddier image quality as well. I think it's just their personal tastes?

Anyway, I posted this in the multi forum:
Both versions are treated to post-processing anti-aliasing too, seemingly equivalent to the refined, high setting on PC. However, this doesn't tell the whole story. As you may notice in our screengrabs, the actual results on PS4 lack the corresponding level of crystal clarity we'd expect of such a significant resolution boost. This should surely be a home run for Sony's console, but what is likely to be a software-based upscale to 1080p delivers less-than-stellar returns, and for better or worse leaves the Xbox One with an often crisper looking, albeit much more aliased image.

I love the PC version. washed out or not. I love that everything is clear and not blurred out like the consoles.

But Both console versions look great.

Denial? the X1 looks as good as the PS4 version, and in some areas a little bit better, despite that 50% more pixels on the PS4. 900p upscaled to 1080p is not looking noticeably better than 720p upscaled to 1080p.

Yeah....well don't fault Microsoft for putting in a good upscaler. Sony could've done the same.

xbox= sharper, better textures, better lighting, more detail
more jaggies, though somtimes even w ps4

ps4- blurry, washed out, weaker lighting
less jaggies some parts.

At 10ft away, jaggies are not as noticeable, but better lighting and textures are :)

X1 here I come.

Props to Microsoft for shutting a lot of people up and having some impressive scaling tech to make a lower resolution game look sharper and better. I wonder if COD ghosts will have the same story.

The pics posted previously clearly show the X1 looks better mate. Seriously. Just admit it. I'll admit they both look great, but the X1 version is a lot more detailed. Thats it. Nice try with the spin though...

good to me

I don't think resolutions matter, but that's because I don't play games for the killer graphics personally, but that's just me. I've played lots of s***ty looking games, but I play them for the story and gameplay.
