You're actually supposed to die. It's not that hard, but you have to be smart about your choices. Don't try to get all the way through on a single life. Gather resources and craft, unlock short cuts, and setup your next explorer, getting a little further each time. Dying seems to be part of the world.

I really liked Below. I will say if anyone plays the survival mode to at least look up how the compass works. It makes it so much easier to find your way back to your body to retrieve your stuff.

I was in the same boat at first, however, once I learned how to use the compass and opened up a couple of the “shortcuts” it made it so much easier to get back to your dead body. Once you learn that the game becomes so much easier, and death isn’t “so bad”.
