Beyond Good and Evil 2

Doesn't seem completely out of the realm of possibility.

It would be ironic if a game with a message as strong as BG&E could be bought for exclusivity.
It'd be like buying exclusivity to Barbie Horse Adventures. Like, what message are you sending the kids? That Barbie can be bought by rich men that want her?!

Looks good but it seems like they're trying to do too much. Like average at everything not really mastering anything.

Can't say as I'm too pumped by what I've seen so far, either. Granted, they haven't shown much. It's probably a ways off. 2020? Plenty of time for them to sell me on it. I liked the first game a lot, so I want it to be good.

Jeff Cannata said the behind closed doors demo Unit showed off was really impressive. Said it would probably be one of the game of the shows had it been shown publicly.

I just started playing the original on Xbox One, anyone else think this game should get a full remake the way Crash, Spyro and Ratchet and Clank did? I like the personality shown in the game so far but I think modern visuals would really help with it and it could help build interest in the sequel prequel :)

I never understood the game development industry. There are studio that people get sack, & studio get shut downdue to 1 or 2 bad games in a row. & there are studios that never product shi+ from years, even more than a decade, & still rocking, like government branches.

I am probably one of the few people here who played the original Beyond good & evil, & it is one of my favorite game.

Looking at Beyond good & evil 2, it seems to overkill the charm of the original game.

It doesn't seem to be a continuation of the original game's characters or story. I heard it's a prequel (?).

It's also "an online game," according to Ubisoft. I'm not sure what that means, exactly. They've said you can play it solo or co-op, so maybe it's like Far Cry, which would be fine. I'm a little concerned that it might be more "online" than that, though (e.g., a service-oriented game like Destiny, for example).

It’s unlikely a prequel as the original protagonist, Jade is now sort of rebel leader or something ( very original). In the original, she was an unknown reporter.

I think this game will live or die on how they flesh out these characters for me. I like the scale and I like the potential with all of these crazy animal hybrids, but the animations look REEEEAAAALLLY early and stiff, which makes the combat look boring.

I want the lead to be a good, interesting character. I hope the customization doesn't lead to a souless character...

Still, it's early, and there is some really good stuff here.

One of the cool things about having the "community" provide artwork and such is that it gives it a more varied, lived-in-by-many-different-people feel. I like that.

I'm basing that on reactions from other gamers. I haven't followed the media on the game closely, so the developers might've said otherwise. Certainly gamer reactions can be "off" sometimes. But I've seen a lot of people complaining that it doesn't seem to be a continuation of Jade's story.

I'm with you. I played the original on the first Xbox and got the remaster. The more I see the more I don't want it. Seems like,in my opinion, that the game is getting further and further away from what made the original game a cult classic.

I played and enjoyed the original, too, and I can't recognize any of its DNA in this game, either.

I agree, but I like the ambition. I really hope there are characters and not just avatars though. I don't really like playing a blank slate. I want a good story.

Well, it may be the next coming of the spice girls. (Oh wait they just have one, never mind), but I am not holding my breath.

Space Monkey Report #4: VOD & questions answered!

Will we always need an internet connection even if we're playing BGE2 solo? (o_gilgamesh, Twitter)
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience. As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you're playing as a Space Pirate!). The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you're into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing...

I just got finished with BotW and kept thinking how much more fun these games would be with some kind of soft multiplayer component. Glad to hear this is where they're headed.
