Beyond Good and Evil 2

Space Monkey Report #4: VOD & questions answered!

Will we always need an internet connection even if we're playing BGE2 solo? (o_gilgamesh, Twitter)
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience. As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you're playing as a Space Pirate!). The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you're into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing...

Hm. Doesn't sound like it'll be for me. Sounds like it's designed first and foremost as an online co-op game, and "You can play solo if you want (but that's not really what we had in mind)." I don't always have my consoles hooked to the internet, either, so any game that requires you to always be online is a no-go for me.

Based of the vids of what I've seen and the latest Q&A session, this game isn't for me either. I wanted a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil. What I'm getting is something entirely different but using the BG&E name.

Ubisoft makes too many of these always online games that I wanna play, but can't.

Does anyone still care at this point? That last trailer was nothing like the first game and looked like a new IP more than anything.

I kinda hope this game never comes out. From what has been shown, its gone FAR away from what made the first game so beloved.

What made it so? Never played it….

It was a linear single player action-adventure game with elements of puzzle-solving and stealth-based action with great animation, setting, story telling and design. It had a set character following a driven narrative.

BG&E 2 is nearly the opposite of it. It's an open world game, with a character creator and both a single player and multiplayer component. From the designer themselves, narrative itself takes a backseat to the gameplay. A core element of the game is the ability to explore several different planets via space travel ( a la No man Sky and Starfield)

Ubisoft basically whats to make a wide appeal game using the Beyond Good and Evil name, given that the 1st game didn't do well commercially.
