Black Tusk pairing with Microsoft Research on unannounced game...

I see in this thread nobody actually follows MSR like...at all. They do a LOT more than just Kinect stuff. Tons of cloud stuff as well. The display planes in X1 were researched by MSR, as was their neural network for voice inputs and translation, tiled resources/rendering, cloud compute for games, new ways to do textures in games, ray tracing, etc. All sorts of brilliant projects are underway there. Several are related to Kinect, but many more are related to other applications in gaming.

If you were to guess, what do you think MSR would be bring to the table that would specifically affect gameplay mechanics?

In the context that they phrased this, I wouldn't assume it would have anything to do with networking, illumiroom, forteleeza glasses, tiled resources/rendering, cloud computing, textures, ray tracing etc etc... we're specifically talking about gaming here and some ideas that they've come up with that would affect gameplay mechanics specifically.

It's easy to say that it isn't necessarily Kinect, I'll admit that, but lets here some other plausible ideas. Maybe something to do with the rumble triggers? I dunno. At least speculate a bit...

I really hope this game is the next big thing. We need something new to add to an already outstanding lineup of, yeah you guessed it, Halo, Gears, Fable, and Forza. Quantum Break might also be that game but impressive as it looks, and it looks amazing, I don't know if the general public will buy into it kinda like Alan Wake.

a game which defined HD era, Gears of War, was already announced before 360 launched but X1 stil doesn't have "it".
so i'm hoping this will be "it".

Black Tusk is from my neck of the woods so I am very interested to see what they are coming up with, I hope it is the next big 'thing' for Xbox, like JP was talking about

I'm still a fan of Titanfall becoming an X1 exclusive. I'd be willing to place a wager on that. But to have another heavy hitter or two, or three or even four or five would be splendid mate. Not to mention when the next Gears is announced for the X1 it'll probably split heaven and hell in two. Speaking of, whats the story with Unreal these days? Zeus knows they're creating one hell of an engine... Can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

Illumiroom isn't a product. Been telling ya guys that for months now. Let it go. Fortaleza, however, is. Black Tusk's game is likely 2015 so my bet is Fortaleza stuff + Kinect 2.0 for actual VR (not just the helmet, but full body tracking + helmet). Could be just about anything though. I doubt anything they did regarding graphics tech would need MSR since MSR's graphics tech already went into the design of X1's architecture as is. So cloud stuff, Kinect stuff, and Fortaleza stuff are my top 3 guesses. All could be very cool.
